Ninja, Thief, Samurai and Corsair. I'm actually finding it hard to stay interested in FFXIV with the current classes/jobs. I miss these jobs so much.

Samurai! Dps or tank. SAM's just look so badass!
I would probably leap at the chance to play Dancer and have a Healer Job that's a Disciple of War instead of Magic.

I strongly suspect BLU in XIV would work in a way similar to but not identical to the way it did in XI. All spells would be learned from quests that see you tackling some notable monster to learn one of its abilities as your spell. The spell would not come directly from killing the monster but would be a quest reward that is explained as learning the spell in the same manner as XI BLUs do.I'd love to see some of the old classics return, but mostly I'd like to see jobs which bring their own unique mechanics to the game.
...
Blue Mage is another choice morsel, but only if they set it up well. I'd like to see a return to having to LEARN certain spells rather than have them granted at a specific level. It adds another level of gameplay to the class and gives the opportunity to give rare and powerful skills to those who challenge tougher enemies.

I feel the this way to. My interest also continues to wane as the days pass without any new information on new classes and jobs.
As for which jobs would I play? All of them! The one I currently favor is Musketeer and part of it is because it was promised way back since 1.0. I would like for every classic Final Fantasy job to eventually make an appearance as a playable class as time goes by starting with:
______________
- Musketeer
- Ranger
- Thief
- Red Mage
- Time Mage
- Blue Mage
- Spell Fencer (Rune Fencer, Mystic Knight)
- Salve-Maker (Chemist)
- Dancer
- Ninja
- Samurai
- Dark Knight
- Beastmaster
- Geomancer
EDIT: My apologies! My mind initially read the title as "Which FF job would you play in XIV?". To answer your question accurately I'll say Ninja!
Ninja the way it was meant to be played, not the "tank" it turned into. Ninja at first was designed to be the sneaky DPS that was adept at ranged attacks with shuriken, cause enfeebling and magic damage with it's unique ninjutsu, raw physical DPS with it's dual-wield traits and the ability to conceal yourself and evade enemy attacks with the ninjutsu spells Tonko and Utsusemi.

Even though the dancer class/mechanics seem fun to play- the concept of a ... dancer... is just something that seems so bizarre to me... dance a curing waltz? WTF does that even mean?
I am not saying that it isn't a fun to play class... just that the concept is a bit... bizarre. I imagine a raid of dancers being something like an N'Sync concert...
I also completely despised FF X-2.... so there's that.
Blue mage and rune fenser

Well skipping the mechanics and considering they would need an overhaul to be in FFXIV... Can we redo Summoner please T_T They just don't feel powerful in this game. If one group in this game is getting boned it's those guys. They deserve their jaw dropping Limit Break animation!
But I don't ever see that happening soooo... meh Corsair or Ninja could be made into this game. Pretty much a bard clone with guns and High evasion/parry tank with some ninja smoke!

FFXI- Seraph
Because for SOME STRANGE REASON yoshi said if he adds "more skills" to one class he absolutely must add more skills to every other class and he doesn't want to do that. So Blue Mage is the one class that sadly would never work in FFXIV, because even in older FF games, it had quite the choice of skills, in ARR, you get what, 5 or 6 job abilities ontop of your bass class skill?
They limited themselves by choosing the generic MMORPG route rather than optimizing a FF game for an MMO environment.
The same way you wave your wand your cast a curing 'wind', or to weave a bunch of air into an attack (Aero) or launch a bunch of stones at people (Stone) or wave your hand over a book. It's called Magic and it works perfectly fine.

I know what you say is true- once you use "magic" as an excuse then logic goes out the window. Technically, we could have magic artists... that use a paint brush to create magic effects... or magic mimes that imitate and it becomes a reality... I guess you could add magic to any activity... so I know what you say is true... I guess I have a hard time seeing it in a combat situation... but to each his/her own.
