PS3 to PS4 transfer dillema

My daughter and I play on my SE account with two separate PS3’s in different cities. I now have a PS4 and want to upgrade.
If I upgrade, will she lose all her character data and level?
I do not want her to lose her data since she plays much more than me and at ilevel 70.

I think the answer will be yes, please confirm.

So my dilemma is, do I buy the PS4 version and start over or stick with the subpar graphics of the PS3 and continue with my 50 level character??

No you will not lose any data as it will transfer to the PS4 but you will not be able to play on PS3 if you use the PS4 upgrade, now if you don't use the upgrade and buy a PS4 copy then you can use both systems.

hmm i be leave if you take the free upgrade you will lose your ability to share your data to the ps3 since your losing your PS3 subscription for a PS4 subscription
all data will be safe since that is handled differently however if you wish for your daughter to still use the PS3 version you might have to pay for the PS4 version so you can have both ps3 and ps4 accessibility

If you buy a PS4 copy and register its activation code on your current account, you'll be able to play both on PS3 and PS4, therefore allowing your daughter to keep playing. And since it's the same account you can also keep using your character without having to start over.

If you buy a copy of the ps4 game and link it to the same SE account as your ps3 version you should still be able to play on both. I've got both the ps3 and PC versions and can play the same account on both. However if on the upgrade you are changing you account from the ps3 to a ps4 version it may lock the ps3. The best bet would be to wait till the game gets released on the ps4 so you can keep both versions active with only 1 subscription needed.

If Mello has one SE account with two service accounts on it it's probably fine. I don't think this would be against the ToS. I'm curious though, in order to play on the PS3 you need to tie the SE account to the PSN account, would need separate PSN accounts and SE accounts unless I have it wrong (since you can have multiple service accounts I assume there's some way SE made to access both, but since I don't have multiple service accounts I can only speculate).

The other way it might be is one service account with multiple characters on it, like most people do. I haven't gone over the ToS so I can't really say, but I doubt it would be against to have two people playing two separate characters on the same account. They can't be logged in at the same time anyway (can't play together), so even if it were against the ToS for some reason I doubt anything would be done about it. SE gets the subscription money for the account for multiple characters anyway. Doing anything would likely just result in a cancellation of services by the customer.

I'm assuming the latter from the responses.
