Let me explain...

In FFXI there was a quest in which you could buy mannequin parts (5 matching gender/race wise) and once you had all 5 you did a quest to combine them and make a mannequin that you would place in your moghouse. This mannequin then gave you extra 7 slots and you were able to use these slots by 'dressing' the mannequin with the epic gear/shield/weapon(s) you have acquired through your travels. You were only able to have 2 mannequins max. Each part had to obtained through an event as it could not be sold on the auction house. However you could buy it from someone's bazaar or trade it for a lot of gil of course.

It was a great idea. Once (or if ever) we get player housing I would love to see this make a come back.
Yea, I loved the mannequins from FFXI and all their poses! <3

And because my brain won't shut off, imagine this as the start of a mannequins quests series...

You have just completed the previous mannequin quest and have painstakingly collected all the pieces for your mannequin that had been scattered all over Eorzea. You dress up your mannequin in a full armor set, complete with weapon, set it up ain a corner of your house, admire it for a bit then go on with your life. A week later, you enter your house and a cutscene starts.

As soon as you walk through the door, you jump to the side as a sword (or whatever weapon you equipped the mannequin with) comes down where your head used to be. The screen pans right and your mannequin is staring at you with those lifeless eyes while tugging on the sword to pull it free from the wall. Once it does, it lifts up the sword again and charges.

Which leads to a mini-battle where you have to fight and defeat your mannequin. Once defeated, a new series of quests begin, leading you to solve the Mystery of the Maddened Mannequin.

::shrugs:: I've been awake for too long.
