The meta itself has not changed thus the only real focus targets are ranged classes/healers/occasional drg>brd. Much of these "strategies" come from a players ability to gauge the situation of a battle (cooldowns/status of team/enemy) 9/10 times cannot be asked of players in PuGs.

Casuals, newcomers are turned off because of the enormity of the grind presented before them, add to that the morale and damage difference and the roulette of having significant skillcap discrepancies between players on both teams.

There is a lack of incentive in the form of rewards, ladders; the non-existent 4s queues highlight this issue.
Presenting players with a barebones clone of WoW arenas instead of a BG format to familiarize players with teamwork, objectives, and awareness of class abilities is why this games pvp has only ever managed to interest only the niche/hardcore playerbase.
Same way I feel, but I'm a derp and can't type it out to make sense like you can =/

And i think it takes millions of years, because 1 round is just pointless. You go out, you fight for 2 mins.. you win... and thats about it? where is the fun?

Seriously people do you really have the opinion that one round is enough??? does this fullfill you? X;D me not.. its like something ended before it even began.
Yes 1 round is perfect IMO. obviously right now it isn't great but that's because there is no rating/ladder etc, you won't need best of 3 rounds when in a ladder/ranked system. But even then as Phazed has stated, arena is definitely something for the more hardcore pvp player in comparison to battlegrounds. Which in conjunction with gear gaps, pvp skill gaps, 3 man rank 30 premades steamrolling new players blah blah blah is why we see these super long queues. I really find it hard to believe it's because it's "pointless".. If that were the case then everything we do is pointless, cause in the end, all this is is a video game.

add frontlines and just watch the place fill up with players, I bet you

EDIT: also imagine getting queued with a BOT or with a player that just won't listen to what you have to say for 3 rounds or just wants to troll... or you end up in a group of randoms in PvE gear against a full rank 30 premade..Yeah.. but no thanks
