As my friends always tell me, my ui always tends to be a bit different. Soon I will revamp again as I'm going to train myself to do mouse overs using the party member side instead thus freeing up a full row on my orbweaver that was used for targeting 5 party members. (Yet i still click on their name now days so I find it a bit redundant at times)
Then again healing is like the 4th thing I do. Blm - drg - war - sch

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.
Here's mine.
I tried to leave the majority of the top open. Party List, LB Gauge, & Alliance info is all on the left. I pulled as much as possible down to the bottom, added in separate chat logs for battle and conversation, and incorporated smaller icons for job changes etc to clean it up. I also made a custom vertical bar for my pet's across all jobs, and a small bar for chocobo/party finder etc.
It's still a work in progress, but seems to work well for me!

This is most comfortable for me, find it easy to monitor party, my Target, and then Focus target for its cast bar. Alliance 1/2 on the left in the space below chatbox, I usually put a Widget or two from ACT or APP in the empty space to the right, and the Twintania Widget from APP in the middle, opposite the Focus target, I think its neat and efficient =P
You know you want to!

I will never understand why people have hotbars running vertically into the middle of their screen. It really screws with my OCD.
You're definitely not the first person I've seen do this, either.
I could kind of understand if you put spells with long recast times near the top of those vertical bars so you can see their cooldowns easily, but you have food up there. That Deviled Eggs button is smack dab in the middle of your field of vision 99.9% of the time but offers zero benefit in terms of imparting useful information. Serious question, why do you have it laid out in such a way?

Lol, you make it sound as if it somehow negatively affects my ability to play, sorry it offends your delicate sensibilities. I prefer to have everything concentrated in one area, as opposed to putting more horizontal bars for the random stuff I place on the verticals over on another side, I like how it frames my target and focus targets hp bars as opposed to them just being disembodied floating somewhere. This works for me, I never find myself distracted by anything, easily able to keep track of everything and still dodge any and all mechanics.
Looking through these pages I cant see how all these people play with what is, in my opinion, chaos lol, but if it works for them it works for them.

Made a slight tweak to my UI for SCH, opened up a little spot in the bottom right for DPS spells to make is easier to throw a little DPS if the opportunity arises.
I like how it's working out so far too, LVL 47, only 2 more spells from here to 50, Lustrate and Shadow Flare, and they actually will fit perfectly in this new setup. =)
(Number icon macros are fairie abilities.)
