Maelwys said it all. Excellent post all around.

War + Pld is ideal for a lot of reason -- most importantly, faster lb building and double damage debuff on twin, both of which are awesome. Of those 2, war should MT P1, 2, 4 and 5. Inner beast is available for every DS and will make it much easier and RELIABLE (and this fight is all about dealing with stuff reliably and not maybe). War is better as OT for P3 due to better aoe agro from what we saw in our group. Steel cyclone rules. Pld is better as an OT in the fight also. In P2, you can do a 3 people fireball technique with it, by stoneskining every nontank all the time. In P4, you can permastun the dreads. In P5, you can spam stoneskin on the MT when DS is incoming to mitigate even better.

Technically, surviving death sentence is the responsibility of both the tank to blow an appropriate cooldown and for healers to properly buff him for the incoming death sentence. Sometimes that isn't possible due to casts getting intermingled (for instance, scholar having to use lustrate to top off the tank, thus delaying a cast of adloquiem).

I agree that it's the responsibility of the Healers and the tanks to co-ordinate.
(though surely Lustrate shouldn't delay Adlo, since it's off the GCD...??)

There's a little bit of leeway - to a certain extent a good tank can make up for a sub-par healer and vice-versa. Concerning Jobs, I've found Warriors can do slightly more than Paladins to ensure they take as little damage as possible from Death Sentences, and Scholars are noticeably better at keeping them alive than White Mages. The times I've come closest to death on the conflags (as a WAR MT with a SCH and a WHM) is when the SCH gets trapped and a DS is coming up... but more often than not a properly mitigated DS + Autoattack will bring me down to 30%-50% HP, and you can always fall back on Holmgang and Benediction in a pinch
