    The XI UI was terrible. PS3 / PC UI's need to be developed independently and not together. Multiple twitch action bars are far more efficient than a slow and cumbersome XI menu.

    If you play on a pad, then play the PS3 version. The main development process for the game is on PC now, thus the UI should be developed for the keyboard and mouse which has about 20x the function and accessibility than a pad.

    Funny, I never had problems in other games using WASD to move, 1-9 for abilities, and shift, ctrl, alt, or a combination of the three to use other abilities. Honestly, though, I wish they'd just let us map our keyboard properly.

    Thats because you could properly move the camera and move with the mouse too.

    here you would need an extra hand for camera control (jkil) and options selection with the arrow keys.

    xi's menu ui was horrible? you mean the really easy to use and understand ui and game that you could easily play with just one hand over the numpad section of your keyboard? xD

    I think the problem here as I have said before is that FFXI took a traditional Final Fantasy UI which was made for consoles and made it work for a Final Fantasy MMO. With FFXIV they have taken a MMO UI which is made for PC players and tried to make it work for a controller.

    While FFXIV's UI does work it isn't great for both a controller and a keyboard and mouse. They should put 2's UI's in, one for playing with Keyboard and mouse so a more traditional MMO setup and one for a controller which is a more traditional Final Fantasy UI setup.

    Yes, I agree with this thread but a lot of people love the action bar like all "oriented action-MMORPG"...

    For myself, FF XI menu was my favorite and I know I will never see it again in another MMORPG... so sad. ;; But we can't do anything to that!

    Now this is a perfect solution!

    Im guessing it would be an option kind of like Dissidia where you get to choose between real action and turn based combat menus.

    For a controller based UI I would hope it would be something like FFXIII which was very similar to FFXI but a bit more modern and then still have macro's like FFXI so we can use those too.

    what made the UI in xi handy was its keyboard convenience, the fact that they are trying so hard to not be xi by changing the basic controls of 9key movement and just typing to chat system to one more complex. I don't give a sh*t about the action bar if they could fix the damn delay/lag in the UI. I hit the key and it still takes a good 1~2 sec to respond, it sounds minuscule but what made the UI system of command cues so good in xiii was you were still in control of the premeditated amount of 3~6 actions. Giving the user time toinput or cancel commands. Also it was single player which meant it had the luxury of allowing players to slow down or speed up the process in the config settings, where as xiv is a real-time multiplayer and must rely on a universal que input from thousands of individual users, making the the concept of qued commands rather weak since they must be executed individually and (currently) cannot be seen or cancelled effectively. I don't know if its the new UI, the increase in graphic detail, the use of a new/old game engine or a combination of the three but this delay has got to be fixed. It's appalling.
