    2.16 Changed/Broke DRG Jump?

    So I've been maining DRG since beta and I've always used Jump (lvl 30 DRG skill) whenever I need a range attack to avoid an AoE damage. But as of last night, I noticed I'm getting hit by whatever I'm jumping into.

    While fighting Titan, during say a bomb drop, I'd run to safe zone, jump at Titan and take damage from a bomb exploding at Titan's location. Note, I'm using Jump, not Spineshatter or Skyfire which I know DO place you at the land location. But Jump has always based damaged received to you on the location you jumped FROM and that no longer seems to be the case.

    I checked the patch notes and don't see anything mentioned about this. Don't know if it's a bug or intentional and just not listed. But either way, it's highly annoying and is basically a nerf to DRG dps considering how many fights require you to spend time away from your target.

    Jump has always worked in this manner. They did ninja patch it so you only register as being at the 2 end points instead of the whole jump path recently though.

    Knowing the way ur using this I'm surprised u don't get hit by every bomb on the way :P

    What are you guys talking about? The OP is absolutely right. Jump always used to base damage received on the starting position of your jump, and ONLY on the starting position. So you could easily jump into the midst of a void zone going of during the jump without taking any harm. It's actually a bad idea to now use both the start and the end position, as this is highly inconsistent, you can't possibly be in 2 places at the same time, so they should either use the start position or the end position and not both of them at the same time.

    Besides, its MUCH better to use Jump as part of your normal rotation rather than save it for an AoE. Use Piercing Talon if you have to be away for more than a GDC and must do damage, but with very few exceptions (like the Disposal Node doing Repelling Cannons and the fire-star AoE in succession) I'm not away from the enemy long enough for this to matter

    That's what I do anyways, but it came in handy when running out of repelling cannons and using Jump to still do DPS while waiting for the void zone to disappear. Never had any issues with being hit that way.

    False. Jump is NOT a ranged attack and never has been. If you tempt fate by jumping when there are AoE going off, you will probably be ok, due to registering your position only for a split second at the end of the cast time. If you are jumping in and out while an aoe is happening, it's not that likely you would time it perfectly to get hit. It happens though.

    I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall for example when doing Chimera and doing Jump while he was standing in a Rams Keeper AoE, I hit him but almost immediately got Slow effect and also took some damage in the process, I think they should really patch it to be honest because it defeats the object of being a ranged attack which returns you to your original location if you're just going to take damage and any other status effects anyway :l

    its always been this way for me so i can only assume the effect you were getting previously was due to lag. maybe for 2.16 they did some server optimization.

    I find it difficult to believe that my timing was so perfect that I was always able to avoid damage by using Jump as a ranged attack prior to 2.16. I'm just not that good.
