    you know what i really don't like about shield swipe? it makes no sense to attack with the shield since you just used it to block an attack. it's an unnatural move. riot blade's stabbing motion would fit much better as a counter after a block.

    If it were a real fight you'd counter with anything you have available. Deflect the attack with the shield then swipe the enemy to disorient them and attack with your blade.

    Which is pretty much how Shield Swipe is described at the end of the level 30 Gladiator quest when you get it.

    I didn't know that. That was just off the top of my head. So it does make sense realistically and the story even backs it up.
