Please only allow party leaders to use it and disable during combat.
If they are going to go through the work, might as well do it right. Putting a 6-7min timer is going to diminish its good use. Unless you are on VoIP with those other people, its hard enough to get someone to stand on a platform in CT, let alone initiate ready checks when asked. If they put who initiated the ready check, problem solved. Person kicked for trolling, and we still retain the benefits and intended use for ready check. It's very simple - make it 6-7 cool down PER PERSON.
This way "oh bob went to the bathroom" since JOhn already did a ready check, Melissa can do a ready check when Bob is back.
This way you don't have the same troll spamming it over and over. So in fact it's not a bad idea at all.
If you have multiple people spamming it though then you're in a party full of trolls and it's a sign to leave anyway :P
It shouldn't be restricted to the party leader, nor should there be a several minute cooldown, because both of those interfere with the proper, useful purpose of the ready check:
You approach a boss fight area and the tank initiates a ready check to see whether to begin it. Everyone except the BLM is ready but he needs a moment and says no. A minute later the BLM is ready so he initiates another ready check himself, which tells the whole group that everyone is now ready to go.
It should, however, be disabled during combat. That should stop the worst of the abuse of it, and without interfering with the feature's useful purpose.
If everyone in the party agrees to not click off that they're ready, wouldn't the troll be the only person to be checked off after the 30 second window elapses?
Ya, its a good point. You don't even have to wait the 30 seconds. They are probably opening/canceling the check I'd imagine? Or is that possible? Either way, it should be easy to tell who has the check by their name instantly after it pops. I'd still put it over the top so there isn't any mistakes being made in a vote kick, but valid way to get the trolls out.
Even just making it not usable in combat with the ability to see it that way will quell a lot of griefing.
One of the worst features to come in this patch because of the abuse potential. Have to admit, ive been closing it instantly anytime ive seen it today to totally discourage the use of it. Sad to have to do that but it is what it is...
