/signed somewhat =/. I think AOE toggle is a good feature BUT I'm with you on the fact that it is INCREDIBLY cumbersome and annoying. SE if you're out there paleeeeese make switching aoe easier. Too many times has this happened: "oh god a freakin coblyn just snuck up behind me....crap! Gotta switch off aoe *group of leve mobs do minus 900 dmg while adjusting*. Finally! Oh crap my health =O! Better heal *Casting* gahglaasdl;afkjasdlkjf *dead*...."

Make macros with /aoe on or /aoe off prior to casting if this is such a huge hassle. Learn how to make it WORK for you because I doubt this is going away.
Is it really that difficult to toggle? On keyboard it's as simple as hitting Z before I fire a spell off. Pretty intuitive if you ask me.

It's probably one of the most efficient things this game actually does in combat settings. I'd actually go as far as to want a constant AOE indicator in the same way the target filter is set up, just as a reminder.

I enjoy the AoE toggle. its not as difficult as it sounds especially when you can just hit the z key before enter. If you're making mistakes, I don't know what to tell you. Also your macro complaint is incorrect I've never had a problem with one, and I dont find them clunky at all. I love the current system of only equipping one item and being able to AoE it by my choice for the current situation.

I do agree with viion however, maybe they could make something a bit smaller to let you know AoE in on/off.

Go play World of Warcraft and use the macro system there. Then come back and say the XIV macro system isn't slow and unresponsive.

A multiple string macro is instant in WoW.
In XIV they can take upwards to 20 seconds to complete.

    Ridiculous.

aoe toggle is one of the few things that works properly. i'm sorry but a simple mouse click or keybind is easy to do. on my controller it is the r1 key and is super easy to do. 1 button = 1 action >>>>>>>> searching through multiple bars to find the single or aoe spell you want to find.

I completely agree that AOE toggle needs to go. In the current situation, mana is never really an issue during fights. It makes absolutely no sense that Sac 2 AOE hits for relatively the same amount as Sac 2 single target, and for the same amount of mana. Secondly, where are all of my beloved AGA spells that I have grown to love in Final Fantasy games. While playing a healing class, one should have to make desicions about what abilities to use on who/what/when/where/why/and how. It adds a level of difficulty that is currently lacking when it comes to healing in this game. Currently, as a Thaumaturge, one could be standing far back from their group, have one hand on their Sac 2 macro and the other hand on a chicken sammie and noone would ever know the difference. Just my thought.

So the solution is to make a workaround?

If you have to play with macros to make it work efficiently, it's broken.

I like the fact that you address the ~AGA spells adding cannon as well. Would probably help bring "Final Fantasy" feel back to the game too.

As far as Thaumaturge healing, I totally agree. It's just pointless and mindless spam and hoping your party lives.

The removal or changing of the AOE toggle barrier/mechanic would also aid in the process of creating more fun and exciting battles (which SE has stated is the goal of revamping combat) by trying to decide what skill(s) to use at the appropriate times.

So the solution is to make a workaround?

Not only that, but the scenario will end up something like this.

"I need 10 minutes afk guys."
    "Why?"
    "Macros."
    "Oh..."

I dont mind aoe toggle. I rather have same spell at same point.
To search aoe or non aoe spell on the bar would be far more annoying. Its triangle button on gamepad and works perfectly.
