54 pages of why I hate PUGs and prefer a party of friends.
Or, at least a tank-friend when I'm healing and vice-verse.
Pharos Sirius..... need I say more?
Ok, I will... I have yet to get a group that pulls adds off me. On the first boss, the tank will ignore adds and the DPS will focus one, meaning the other is free to give me three stacks.... splode. On the second boss, DPS tend to want to tunnel vision the boss, leaving adds to rape me. On the third boss, believe it or not, I've died quite a few times thanks to the tank not picking up adds. I now sprint around and kite them. And Siren.... no interrupting Lunatic, getting stun locked, privates beating on me non stop, two+ members getting hit by charge each time, etc, etc.
I've tanked it a dozen times and I focus on keeping the healer alive the whole time (mainly picking up adds and stunning Lunatic). But, asking other to do this when I'm healing seems like an exercise in futility.

Today I tanked and healed titan normal mode AND kept everyone alive.
The tank was horrible! I didn't over heal and did the standard tactics. I guess constantly doing titan hm made me an expert lol.

I don't think I am one of the best FFXIV players in the world, yet I don't think i'm one of the worst either. Still, I got banned in Brayflox. It was me, a friend of mine and two guys (tank and dps) from another FC. The Tank was into doing something in the middle between a speed run and a suicide. He loved to attack big packs of mobs leaving the hardest one for last. He started with those fish-like mobs ignoring salamanders. Besides, one of the DPS was attacking other mobs so that I had to heal 2 party members who were taking lot of damages. I tried with Medica II, but that caught the attention of other mobs, I used Presence of Mind so that I was able to cast more spells, but it takes some time before I can use it again. So I tried casting repose (DPS were only melee) in order to reduce the total number of mobs doing damages. The Tank wasn't happy and scolded me. Asking him to slow down resulted in me being banned.
I still think I was right ...
It's been like this lately:
I dont know your job, but lemme tell u how to play anyway. Selene's buffs are useless. Don't use her even though she maintains my hp perfectly fine. I don't know that eye for an eye isn't like regen, therefore it is not worth risking a wipe. And even though it is a small matter of testing to prove you're right, stop using it or I'll waste your buffs by removing them. And if you don't like that, u can leave.
I don't understand this new wave of PLD tanks at all.. :\

I'd love to try using Selene in a Dungeon instead of Eos, but I wouldn't dare doing such a thing while in a party with people I don't know. They would kill me! And that's why - regardless of the job I'm using - I tend to do just what people expect without experimenting. It's sad but I think people should calm down lately, especially in CT I see and read things ...It's been like this lately:

If I RDF in dungeons, I always summon EOS first, It depends on how experienced the party members are, I might switch to selene...

TBH, Selene and Eos aren't that much different functionality wise in most dungeons, especially if you're not micro managing them. I tend to use Eos myself for all encounters because I'm used to using her now and she provides more noticeable buffs. However, unless you're doing T4/5 coil or EX Primals, I really don't think it matters much which fairy you're using. Eos's Fey illumination. whispering dawn and fey covenant are nice tools but not completely necessary in most encounters I've found. :PI'd love to try using Selene in a Dungeon instead of Eos, but I wouldn't dare doing such a thing while in a party with people I don't know.
