[Suggestions for SE] to prevent RMT

In my opinion it might be a good idea to "legalize" RMT by making Crysta tradeable in game.
This way players don't have to buy gil from illegal sources, taking away the means of existence for RMTs. Also by selling crysta in game, the community can determine the exchange rate of real money to gil.

This won't recover the economy on its own, but it might help to hold off illegal RMT activities if SE decides to improve the in game economy.

What do u think about it?

And yet it works/worked in at least 2 other games. I'm not saying it's right for THIS game, but dismissing it out of hand is wrong.

This won't prevent RMT, nothing will. Look at Diablo III, you could legally buy gold from the RMAH, and as dead as that game is right now there are still tons of RMT around.

You'll never completely be rid of RMT, but if you can effectively cripple them in your game, they don't become much of a nuisance.

Because this worked SOOO well in Diablo 3. -_-

In case you didn't know. They ended up deciding they had to remove that feature. It didn't work, and it turned the game into pay the play. This is a bad idea.

Considering there is almost nothing worth farming for, or even buying with that gil outside of a house, they've already crippled them. The shouts are down significantly from what they were at launch, and I'm on Balmung the second most populated server according to some numbers. This game has taken it too far though. Now the economy and therefore the players are suffering because they were too heavy handed in their anti-rmt changes to the economy.

I think for the RMT issue, would be nicer to cripple their advertising instead, by having a set of incoming tell filter options, something on the log tab maybe. (edit: didn't come out right first time)

    Allow /tells:

    -*From people in friend list
-*From people in FC / LS's
-*From people I have sent tells to
    -*Whilst recruiting in Party Finder
-*Whilst in instances (ok, that one's just mean, won't open that can of worms here, but if you can't send tells for the reason they claim that people might be abusive in duty finder then... why not?)
    - From established accounts (30 day+ sub time)
    - From players at or above level: (additional number entry field) (default maybe 10)
    - From new accounts (<30 day sub time)
    - From RMT (oh if only)

    *default settings
There's downsides of course, but to be honest... but we can already set /away status so this is just an extension.. partially /away you could say. The first time you get a filtered tell, it could pop up a context help on adjusting the setting if required.

I think I'd prefer it to legal crysta trading, which, as has been pointed out above, doesn't really stop RMT in games which have similar systems.

So to prevent the rmt, you must become the rmt.

I say S.E should just get to the root of the problem, the gil buyers, just ban them all. Problem solved.

Not exactly, since SE won't have any benefits from it. It will just allow player A to pay sub fees for player B by in game trade.
Better: To prevent the RMT, the community must become the RMT. So they can determine the prices.
Also you can not earn real money for Gil, since you can't exchange Crysta back to money.

And how do you want to figure out, if s.o. really bought gil or was just unknowing? If both sides are not stupid, you can't figure out.

Another benefit of making Crysta tradeable might be an increase of the worth of Gil. At the moment there is really no need to farm Gil except buying a house. But if you can pay your subscription with Gil, it gives farming a meaning.
