So to prevent the rmt, you must become the rmt.

I say S.E should just get to the root of the problem, the gil buyers, just ban them all. Problem solved.

Not exactly, since SE won't have any benefits from it. It will just allow player A to pay sub fees for player B by in game trade.
Better: To prevent the RMT, the community must become the RMT. So they can determine the prices.
Also you can not earn real money for Gil, since you can't exchange Crysta back to money.

And how do you want to figure out, if s.o. really bought gil or was just unknowing? If both sides are not stupid, you can't figure out.

Another benefit of making Crysta tradeable might be an increase of the worth of Gil. At the moment there is really no need to farm Gil except buying a house. But if you can pay your subscription with Gil, it gives farming a meaning.

Seems like that model is more suited in f2p games. Legalizing gil buying will put pressure on regular players into buying it as well because they now want that large house they couldn't afford back then. So now you got a play to pay game that makes you feel like you need to spend even more.

I assume they can just follow the money trail of bots that they have banned.
