We noticed that if everyone stands still while the tank is pulling, they will all aggro him 90% of the time. it's important to note that the 3 adds aggro about half a second after twintania. once those 3 target lines show up on the tank we all run in and the adds almost never chase anyone else down. the main tank then vokes twin off your add tank.

it also seems like if anybody moves or does an action between twin aggro and adds aggro, the adds go after someone random.

It has been our experience that if anyone stands on the left side of the hill (facing twin) that person will get hate 9/10 times. If everyone stands in the center of the hill during the pull, the OT will almost always get all 3 attacking him.

So from what I'm seeing, it's just broken. I wonder why no one has said anything in the bug forums, and why we haven't seen a dev post at the very least saying it's working as intended.

Okay listen up! There is no bug, and I'm going to tell you exactly how the initial aggro for this encounter works:

First, there is a different aggro condition for Twintania and each of her adds. What that means is, pulling Twin does not automatically pull her adds, nor does it establish your position on the adds aggro table automatically. However, pulling Twin does establish the existence of the adds aggro table. What ends up happening is if a tank goes in and pulls twin, anyone in the party that uses any ability (usually self-buffs like quelling strikes) is automatically put on the adds aggro table. Even though these abilities cause zero enmity gain, it is enough to put you on the list itself.

Second, the adds do not all link when one is initially pulled, they do have proximity aggro, and pulling the adds does automatically link Twin. What ends up happening here is that if a tank goes in and pulls the adds (shield lob), Twin is automatically linked, but the other adds won't automatically aggro to the tank unless the tank is also within their proximity aggro range or someone uses an ability.

Putting it all together, you want your OT to do the initial pulling. Have them come in from the left side of the arena instead of running straight down the hill. Coming from the left, have them pull the closer add while continuing to move toward the far add. This will result in the following: First add pulled by direct ability, second add pulled by proximity (tank has zero enmity, but is listed on the aggro table), Twintania pulled by link, third add with an active aggro table with nobody on it yet. As the OT continues, they will be put on the third add's aggro table from proximity ~3 seconds after initial pull. ~2GCDs after initial pull, the OT should have the 3 adds within flash range. At this point, the OT can begin flashing, and the MT can provoke Twin.

So what we have is an ~1-3 GCD period where the fight has begun, but the aggro table has not been established for every target. During this 1-3 GCD period, anyone else in the party activating an ability will likely result in the loose adds making a beeline to them.

Adds usually aggro me as a BLM just standing still on the pull and having not done anything. I just pop Manawall after they aggro me and wait for the tank to pick them up.

You should notice this while tanking after you pull with your ranged attack. Only the primary mob will be red while the other two are orange until you use a self-buff, then they will turn red.

It is a bug actually. It never happened before 2.1, and has since happened to our group every time we pull after 2.1. I tank this weekly and have seen the difference myself. It has nothing to do with buffs being used, or proximity, etc. It is simply random aggro on people standing completely still waiting for the pull. We've tried with buffs/no buffs, no pets, etc. and the result is the same.

The work around is simple as people have posted, just run in and use any buff and they'll all stick on you. It can be Fight or Flight, I personally use Thrill of Battle, or whatever one you wish. I am not sure why SE hasn't caught this, or why there isn't more talk on it. Perhaps its just something most tanks learn to work around fairly quick. Its pretty chaos for new tanks though. Lol Also, was a bit of a shock the first few times running T5 after 2.1.

Happened to me too. I'm the puller so it's a bit frustrating, especially when the party wipes or starts badly because of that. Anw i started to use Owerpover to prevent that, it has a good range, so if i time it correctly i can aggro all adds back to me. Flash works too probably, but it has a shorter range, so it's harder to time.
