FFXIV STILL being credited for SE's Financial Success!!!!

Not only is this game actually good, it's literally the only good game Square Enix has produced internally since...like, Final Fantasy 12. That was 7 years ago.

ARR is only financially successful game in 7 years from Square Enix that people actually like.

So yeah, unlike the Final Fantasy 13 Trainwreck Trilogy, this game probably is getting subscribers and attention through positive word of mouth.

The first Final Fantasy 13 game broke franchise record sales. Mainly because:

1) It was the first multiplatform Final Fantasy title, and

2) People had no reason to believe it was going to be terrible. FFX and FFXII were universally well-recieved.


The second sold significantly worse than the first, and Lighting Returns had the lowest opening sales of any Final Fantasy title.

This is because after 2 mediocre games everyone knew what to expect. (Me included -- i got a PS3 and FFXIII on the day of its release. I preordered FFXIII-2. I'm so fed up with the FFXIII series that for the first time in my life, i'm just not going to buy XIII-3.)


I'd argue that the XIII trilogy is a MUCH bigger insult to Final Fantasy than XIV 1.0...At least they fixed this game. With XIII Square is just desperately trying to manufacture another "Cloud" to cashgrab off of by shoving Lightning down our throats, and it simply isn't working.

And, funny enough, the re-release of FF10 sold better than Lightning Returns. People would rather buy FF10 multiple times than buy a completely new FF13/Lightning game once.

Heck, I'd much rather dust off the old PS1 and play FFVII or FFT for the 100th time before playing the FFXIII's.
