I'd actually like to see some exp loss upon death but without the ability to delevel. Perhaps that would be just a little too cruel, especially for those at the rank cap. However if you're planning to die, you can always switch to an unimportant low rank job.

If exp loss were brought in, weakness should be done away with. Mostly since I can imagine horrible situations during an NM battle where someone accidentally dies within NM range, receives a Raise but gets hit with another attack while trying to flee to safety under the effect of weakness. More exp lost. Ouch.

It's funny because the game already does penalize your exp in a different way. :|

Seems like the new player generation wanting games to be easy as hell, if you are looking at the game industry in general.

I will definitly quit the game (even if its for free) when they dont ad at least a feel of a decent challnge to the gameplay.
Playing to reach Rank 50 and not for actualy having fun seems to be the major opinion though.
I don't want the game to be easy. I love to challenge my character's abilities. Now that I don't have to worry about xp loss I am exploring the game world. My biggest regret with FFXI is that I didn't see the whole of it. I was afraid of dying and possibly losing a level. I was barred access to places in my world even though I paid to have that access.

"I have attained this particular level of skill. I fought an opponent and died. I was magically resurrected in mystical video game style. Why should I no longer know what I learned?" If you want the xp loss kinda game, then go play one where you have to start at level 1 each time you die.

Both losing XP and item durability upon death are annoyances, both of which don't actually make the game more difficult, at all.

this. I ran into "mindless" ppl in ffxi who out pulled a pld hp/mp died then yelle at the pld. exp loss of death made no one smarter. Also ppl started having Power level requirements to avoid death to get the most exp/hr making most parties (99%) dd zerging. this was after cop and before treasures.

Hmm, why can't they just make it so that like it's been in every other final fantasy, if you die you lose everything you've gained since your last save point. Where a save point would be an aetheryte crystal? This would definately make people wary of dying, although I don't know how it would work with disconnections.

Ok so you have been partying for about 3 hours and everything is fine until the healer gets pissed off at the tank. The healer then waits for you guys to pull then leaves the party and everyone dies. That would make more people riot instead of the dreaded sp loss idea.

You would be giving trolls a tool to set you back even farther than just losing xp. Both ways have a greater negative impact than just some nut kicking adrenaline rush.

There is no point if you cannot delevel then, because you won't care about dying anymore once you're 50.

I am not really in favor of SP loss. Maybe they could do something like you have to pay gil to resurrect, or you can choose to pay SP or gil. If you pay SP you get a shorter weakness?

About the gear durability, I'm in favor because it gives more repairs for crafters but I'd like it if red gear (or 0%) was like being naked and if you don't fix it after a while, it breaks and you have to buy it again!
