Please use the Japanese name for the vanity system: "Mirage Prism"

Hmm... the 'Mirage Prism' is surely an item like a 'Job Crystal' right? Then we would refer to it as our Mirage gear... which makes perfect sense.

Japanese names for these sort of things usually involve a bunch of random "power words" thrown together that usually just sound really pretentious.

I don't mind shortening it to something that isn't such a mouthful. Honestly there's only so many flowery ways you can label something that's in every MMO in existance.


That's kind of the point of "Localization". If it sounds stupid, retarded, cheesy, foreign, too mouthy, ect ect, you fix it up a bit.

"Mirage System" or simply "Mirage", or even "Mirage Crystal" sounds fine. Mirage Prism just sounds overcompensating personally.

Lol at a transformation sequence....but that will be nice, though nothing over the top. Maybe a flash of light and the emote of your character checking themselve out and approving or cheering. Those emotes already exists.

Just add an option to either call it one or the other upon activating the quest/item/request to appease both sides, we have japanese voices, i'm sure they can make a placeholder word that the player himself selects to either be Mirage Prism or Glamour.

(Personally i prefer Mirage Prism aswell though.)

It may surprise some of you to learn that a great deal of official terminology is determined through a collaborative effort. The Japanese lore team frequently consults with the localization teams, asking them to provide suggestions, which are then localized into JP.

As some posters have observed, “glamour” has an archaic meaning of “magical illusion,” and we have used it in this fashion since 1.0. Given the lore behind this new system, it was an obvious choice for the English version.

However, “glamour” wasn’t an ideal word for the Japanese version. It doesn’t possess the desired archaic connotation, and when written in katakana, it can be misread as “grammar.”

Therefore, the item name “glamour prism” (グラマープリズム) was localized into “ミラージュプリズム” (mirage prism), which would more effectively convey the intended meaning to Japanese players.

I hope this clears up any lingering confusion as to why the names are different!
