I just wanna get wet.
just use a portable drive to copy the files over. I do this all the time with saved files when i use my friends PS3 at his house. I bring my save files over.In a previous live letter, they stated that they plan to store the config file (character sets, skill sets, UI settings, macros etc.) on their servers instead of local config files like we have them now on PS3 and PC. Any news if this change will make it live before we are able to switch to the PS4 version? If not, a lot and I mean really a lot of players will have to setup everything from scratch and I hope this can be avoided. I for once have almost a dozen of characters and a boat load of macros and wouldn't look forward to do everything again. So i really hope SE makes this change in time.
^^ not sure if the file format for PS3 and PS4 config files is different. My hope is that they store this kind of information server side - and in time before the PS4 version goes live.

That's not going to help with the platform jump. The two systems use different save file formats.
However, the upgrade process carries over all character data so your settings should be maintained: http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/ps4/ps3_users/ states as much.
If you are planning to purchase the new version so you can play on both PS3 and PS4, which some people might be, I'm not sure if you will be able to keep your data unless it is stored server-side or a cross-platform settings backup is implemented.
I honestly hope SE learns from the problems some 1.0 people were having when moving their characters over to 2.0
That's the good part thing about ARR. There are no investors. It's all SE's money funding this game. No investors to please, only the players![]()
Think you miss understand that statement by SE, the basically stated that FFXIV broke the 650k accounts that FFXI held not that it's at 650k.
and lets forget that SE itself do have investors and need to show good results to them... Good/bad results or even rumours effect their stock prices too.
actually broke 600K, not 650K... 600-700k were estimates by 3rd parties, so often just ~650K used. And if you want imply that subs numbers can be much higher... it's very unlikely, otherwise SE would be boasting about it, it would be mentioned in their latest financial report and servers would be full like after launch/first month.
