The terror of FFXI in its glory days... having to sneak past true sight nm's praying that they don't turn around at the last second....Vana'diel was a world to be feared and loved!

So many situations where seeing a mob that was even match still made you hesitate.

1.0 made you fear far more than this one, but that game the mobs at 50 took some effort to take down. I still remember trying to go into the mines to try and get my coffer for DRG AF, took down a few but shortly after i got overwhelmed and died. It was a lesson that 1) im not god because im at cap (unlike in 2.0) and the game required that you actually have to play with people (i know...shocking coming from a Massively Multiplayer game)

IDK if any of you played FFXI, but when you compare the size of those zones to the zones in FFXIV. FFXIV zones are very short and its way to easy to get around in FFXIV. The thing that made FFXI so popular was the fear of the land and exploring . There was real danger in FFXI zones you have yo use sneak and invis even if you were level 75. Here at level 50 I can go anywhere I want to with out invs and fear of death.

I wish the gameworld had more teeth and actual dynamic gameplay. Now all difficulty is just in the raids and the world feels forgotten and deserted. There should be something to justify calling this a mmo instead of a co-op game.

There's so much game area just completely wasted and un-used at the moment.

OP is right. Honestly I don't know why the quest NPCs say "be careful" "dangerous", it is laughable. But it doesn't help that there is not consequences for dying either. ..

Back on track. we need some NMs, trash mobs that hurt and zones that you enter at your own risk solo. Oh and perhaps a reason to fear death other than the minor inconvenience of having to teleport or repair sooner.

Finally I end with how about some zones that you can get lost in? Mapless zones. Mystery, fear, unexpected surprises. Mimics. Say it with me: Open World Content with teeth!

lots of good ideas. As much as at times i hated XI for having to go through finding coffers for maps, i loved the fact that after going through the place a bunch of times, you just learned the places.Never saw the point of basically not just opening your map in this game and using the map as your main screen, everything is so small and even more linear feeling than ever. Its a great looking world, but it doesnt have that (nooks and cranny's) feel to it. I know NMs helped that because they were always tucked away in odd spots.

Some larger more open zones and the maps we do uncover being...well less detailed would help tbh, so much is told to you already with every system (and dumbed down for 10 year olds) ...at least let us figure SOMETHING out on our own. Seems the only thing we need to figure out in the game to not be braindead is the super scripted instances.

Like the pure satisfaction of making it out of Yhoater or Yuhtunga Jungle alive after your party disbanded? Yeah, that was something. Or when in Sea, never sure if you should watch the sky or your feet and then the fun distractions of the lovely goldfish.

That only 4 people agree with. Maybe you should take a break from the game. I (and many other people in my friends list and FC) are having tons of fun with current content and stuff we make up along the way.

I do kind of agree with the 'fate' groups.. but that's about it. Crafting in XIV is not poor. Its better than many games I've played (though I still actually preferred the 1.0 version of crafting better) which makes your opinion on gathering... well... your opinion, and as with the number of 'likes' on your post. just a few select others.

Sure you can level up in the DF but the game really is what you make of it. If you want to be down and find all the negatives, sure, its going to be that way for you. It doesn't matter if you choose to play this game or any other, though. They are all going to be the same. If you like the FF world setting, great. If not, there are other choices out there. Considering the fact of how easy it is to level in this game to max level (just like most other newer MMO out there since its the current 'trend'), this game is in fact just like about every other MMO out there. I've played through (and currently playing through) the game story on 3 characters. Still enjoying it. But there you have it, the game is what *you* make of it for yourself.

The beastman dailers were put in to give and *optional* source you *can choose* to do daily if you want to. Play as you go, whenever you feel like it. Some people do them daily, other not at all and the rest somewhere in between. After you get to 'trusted' rank for both you can earn up to 90 philo tomes and/or up to 18 myth tomes a day. If you choose. Who cares about a mount and or vanity pet (though I bought the dragon mount and both vanity pets)... It completely optional. You are really going to complain about a totally easy way to get tomes... daily mind you... just for the sake of complaining?

Fun. They are never going to be able to make it fun for everyone. It is your choice on whether or not you have fun. Yup. Up to you and you alone. They will put out content and you will either enjoy it or not. *Just like every other MMO out there* No one can make you like or dislike the content but you. Me, I have fun just running along the fence lines in gridania for like 45 minutes at a time just running and jumping on them... cause I make a little minigame of it for myself because.. well.. I am having fun doing it, because I made it fun for myself. Not because the fact of jumping and running on the fences is fun.. because most people wouldn't think of it and probably find it boring, but that is their opinion while mine is mine. *Fun is what you make of it* I will say it again over and over.. If it isn;t fun for you right now, take a break. Do something else. Come back when and if you feel like it. But whatever you end up doing, just have fun

    Thanks!

I agree, there is so much hand holding. I hope when we get an increase in the level cap we can work towards more of our abilities, have a solo fight challenge or something similar. Or a solo exploratory mission combining stealth and combat.
