    I have trio'd a pieste skin map, we all had our birds out as well. But my question is why do you even want to? These maps are designed to give out lots of items and a set amount of gil to each person. If you solo, duo or even trio it you are just tossing gil to the ground. Its a waste and it sickens me.

    Maybe because people only want to do maps with people they trust, so that they don't get ninja'd out of loot from their map.

    We usually state that each map, their own loot. Otherwise, I would be super mad if my blue bird got leeched by other players. ^^;

    As for the non need/greed loot portion, we usually just let it drops to whoever. Not really a big deal anyways.

    That's what I mean. You pick up a few randoms, and specify that need/greed loot goes to the map owner. Let's say a Bluebird drops, and one of the randoms decides that it's his right to have it, as he helped with the map, so he rolls, and takes your bird. Sure, maybe you can report him. Maybe he even gets a temp ban, but I bet that you don't get your Bluebird. That's why I don't run with 8 people.

    lol

    You still have to do like 20 runs for achievement alone. Plus, I already got my bird. XD
    And full pt really gives you boost for your incoming. Last time I got 3 times of 5k gil worth. ^^

    Or maybe you can just plan full pt with your FC only, or with LS that specialize in treasure hunting.

    The biggest issue is the timer. It would be fairly easy to do on SMN if you didn't have to beat the clock. It would also depend on the mobs that popped. Sometimes they're ridiculously easy, other times incredibly difficult, even on the same map.

    I've never tried it, to be honest. I've duoed one, with me on SMN and a PLD friend. But I've never even tried to solo one. It might be possible. I suppose like all things if you had great gear and really knew your job, and also got a bit lucky on the mobs that you had to fight, it could possibly be done. But I don't think it would be worth the trouble.

    I soloed it once as WHM with DPS chocobo. However it was very close and extremely difficult. You're best off just getting a group together for it.

    fc mate soloed the one with the waves of bogy adds on dragoon. unsure if he used his bird but guessing he did.

    So yes it's possible but luck of the draw which mob set you get so not recommended.

    *edit: fun anecdote! I popped a map once that i SWORE was boarskin, but to my horror it was not. Pieste all the way. Got the Snurble one (on my WHM) and ended up timing out. Got him down farther than I expected, and popped the first wave of adds, but still failed horribly. To a puffball. OH, my poor, shattered ego!

    We tried a party of BRD, MNK, SMN, WHM, SCH for a peiste and got Chimera. Failed that one because we timed out. Next time we got Chimera we had a WAR, BRD, SMN, and SCH and managed it easily. On the Morbol one we were unable to finish it in time with a WAR, WHM, and SMN but I think that was my bad for not getting the adds down quickly enough.

    Anyway, I'm sure there's some that are soloable under very specific conditions, but I personally think it's more fun to do them with friends.
