There is a certain "action lock" that makes the server thinks ur not dodging the aoe, so DO NOT use any kind of skills during wotl or landslide casted. if possible use instant cast skill
in a safe spot to remedy the server oddity

I have found this to be very true.
If you cast an action while moving away from something, the game will log your position when you first started the action, and will not update it until after the action is complete.
This will cause your character to appear to be outside of an aoe, but in reality you are still inside it.
If you cast nothing and run, you will always make it. It is that simple.
