So people can't be bothered that an aspect of the game they play, something that's community driven, didn't include or acknowledge them? Or that there's serious discussion going on about whether or not those preferences will even be allowed in systems the game intends to eventually put into the game for players to enjoy and use with one another? What, wanting a little bit of acknowledgement and respect in a video game a wide variety of people play and enjoy is somehow some negative thing that everyone needs to rail against because it's some taboo political topic (that those people railing against it make it to be) all the while complaining and being offended over people feeling offended that they weren't considered in some aspects of the game and went completely unacknowledged? Saying "I'd like there to be -insert character with x gender/sexuality" or "why can't the quest text of this event be a little more inclusive, than exclusive?" is suddenly some politically charged statement that would ruin everything because that one character, that one request, that one desire for some sort of acknowledgement would take away a slot from the standard straight character that we already have twenty+ of? (and sexuality comes up in a multitude of ways in... everything -- a character referring to past loves, marriages, having kids, current relationships, interests: things that romantically develop characters and give them a different dimension --- all of these things, with any character, in a fantasy universe, are related directly back to that character's sexuality... obviously?)
That seems to be what has people's panties in a bunch in the first place, and then this idea came along to just say "everyone's welcome in the game, everyone deserves some acknowledgement and we're not out to destroy your game or your fun" to promote community (how on earth is it tearing it apart? You know, apart from the people acting like it's some devil-spawned plan... that's... somehow... hurting... something?) And they didn't label it "LGBT" only (it doesn't only stand for only 'gay' either, so) it's just a LGBT focused event since, you know, everything else in the game (besides for one minor statement made by a sidequest NPC towards female characters) is straight/cis-focused if it involves relationships/gender expression and so forth.
You're offended over nothing, you're just spitting on someone else's fun.
Ridiculous.
