    My point is;

    If it was just a community event they wouldn't have labelled it 'Gay' or 'Cats only', so that completely difutes the togetherness part of things no?
    If they didn't want to push a point, they wouldn't even have mentioned "Show our support for equality" AT ALL. (even though there wasn't even any discrimination to begin with).

    Ridiculous.
    So people can't be bothered that an aspect of the game they play, something that's community driven, didn't include or acknowledge them? Or that there's serious discussion going on about whether or not those preferences will even be allowed in systems the game intends to eventually put into the game for players to enjoy and use with one another? What, wanting a little bit of acknowledgement and respect in a video game a wide variety of people play and enjoy is somehow some negative thing that everyone needs to rail against because it's some taboo political topic (that those people railing against it make it to be) all the while complaining and being offended over people feeling offended that they weren't considered in some aspects of the game and went completely unacknowledged? Saying "I'd like there to be -insert character with x gender/sexuality" or "why can't the quest text of this event be a little more inclusive, than exclusive?" is suddenly some politically charged statement that would ruin everything because that one character, that one request, that one desire for some sort of acknowledgement would take away a slot from the standard straight character that we already have twenty+ of? (and sexuality comes up in a multitude of ways in... everything -- a character referring to past loves, marriages, having kids, current relationships, interests: things that romantically develop characters and give them a different dimension --- all of these things, with any character, in a fantasy universe, are related directly back to that character's sexuality... obviously?)

    That seems to be what has people's panties in a bunch in the first place, and then this idea came along to just say "everyone's welcome in the game, everyone deserves some acknowledgement and we're not out to destroy your game or your fun" to promote community (how on earth is it tearing it apart? You know, apart from the people acting like it's some devil-spawned plan... that's... somehow... hurting... something?) And they didn't label it "LGBT" only (it doesn't only stand for only 'gay' either, so) it's just a LGBT focused event since, you know, everything else in the game (besides for one minor statement made by a sidequest NPC towards female characters) is straight/cis-focused if it involves relationships/gender expression and so forth.

    You're offended over nothing, you're just spitting on someone else's fun.

    Ridiculous.

    POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK, considering you've written me an essay. I'm not offended by anything, just curious and confused.

    "offended
    əˈfɛndɪd/
    adjective
    1.
    resentful or annoyed, typically as a result of a perceived insult."
    Offended isn't the correct word to use here, sorry~

    So, a parade shrouded by an Agenda is something I can't discuss or question either?

    Now who's being unfair~ I could have just sat there and twiddled my thumbs, but what's the point in that?

    I'm not attacking the gay community specifically, if it were a "Setting fire to toddlers" event, or "Russian Pride" event, I'd provide the same question "What is the point in shrouding it with an AGENDA"

    My point yet again is; The game has not discriminated anyone yet, as I've already pointed out people in this game seem to feel otherwise. Rendering your point complete moot on "Gender/Sexual Equality" where none of its matters in Eorzea currently.

    Which to say again is Ridiculous, that you're trying to be a social justice warrior out to do damage control against me when there's nothing for 'fight' for essentially.

    THERE IS NOTHING, specific in this game currently that forces players to fit a particular sexuality. The closest you've encountered in an NPC /pose'ing and having to trade a lump of pixelated chocolate with another play. BIG DEAL.

    If you're still struggling to understand what the you and some others in the thread want everyone else to do, here's a visual chart;

    Yet again to itterate, this isn't a "LGBT" focused attack as you seem to be hell-bent on trying to curve at me, quite the opposite. It's the intended effect thats the problem and the overall point of it, NOT the specific community.

    tl;dr

    People seem to be struggling to grasp my point.

    The event itself isn't the issue. I've actually enjoyed the walks through Eorzea in the past. THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE.
    The social justice warrior undertones are the issue. (I.E Discrimination is happening!!! (when it really isn't))

    Okay, bear with me on this one, and have an open mind completley ignoring most of what I've said so far.

    Square Enix are a big company, that make a lot of money and are based in Japan.

    Homosexuality is taboo worldwide, there's no denying this fact. It is still a very sensitive topic.
    Square Enix as a company have to consider what's best for the companies image. This includes understanding the laws, cultural nuances across the globe and the general attitude towards things.

    Applying this to the game could have multiple outcomes, some could bolster Square Enixs reputation, part of it could tarnish their reputation as a company.
    Media attention is very important and has a huge influence on sales and support for the company as a whole.

    As a company they have to approach topics like this VERY VERY carefully.

    This might not appeal to everyones tastes or their particular beliefs/wants, but as a whole company they have to decide amongst themselves what is best. They are fully aware that the demand exists and that it would be used if it was implemented, the problem lies in whether they believe its pros outweigh the cons for doing so.

    Be an adult and be respectful towards their decision either way, as a whole this is a game it's not necessary to have this added after all.

    Shioban, I love you man. Honestly though, there's little point in debating this anymore. People can't get over that it's a video game, people feel the need to bring real life problems into everything (which honestly RUINS things people, it doesn't make it better), etc etc. My only wish, would be that the crowd supporting this would understand that most of us don't care if SE says "We think gay marriage fits in Eorzean lore, so we're adding it"....what we care about is this ridiculous movement for a VIDEO GAME where there's no need for such a rights movement, because it's absolutely inane and silly to think that we have to bring real life issues into everything else we touch. It's not making a stand and making things better or paving the way for anything, it's literally creating a divide in a community, the one that everyone claims is such a big deal when bringing up their LGBT movement. The community itself is CREATING these "social issues", no one else. People are FINDING reasons to be upset and take up arms for something.There is no reason to continually look for every hint of "discrimination" in everything so we can all band together and wave flags in peoples' faces. GET OVER IT.

    Your sexuality is your sexuality, I have supported this throughout the thread. However, this is a video game, and in no way represents real life. Most games even state "this is a work of fiction, etc etc", so can we please leave it there? As a work of fiction and not someone's biography?
