dia = Aero (without the defense reduction, with it will be too overpowered)
Jump and shoulder tackles are not ranged attack... it's stupid to say this. they are movement capacity... the advantage of a ranged attack can be to be able to attack while moving away, or pull monster while being solo without fight the whole group.
what bother me the most with the Monk, outside this, it's i don't have the feeling to play a monk, but a rogue. do you imagine Sabin, Tifa, Zell that will attack like this? they are all know for be hotblooded and charging recklessly in the fight!
this is a monk fighting: our dear Tifa in action
after you have look at this tell me the monk we have ingame is like this...
ps: by the way if the monk look like this in FF14 you can thanks some playerbase of the V1 asking for position for the melee and the lack of rogue at the release... and since rogue are often the most played class in the mmorpg.
i wonder how they will make the thief/ninja that will normally be the class to depend of positional fight look different of the monk.

Out of curiosity I just took my MNK to Apkallu camp to experience this PTSD-inducing farming experience and I have to say....I'm not seeing it. I'm claiming just fine against 2 bards. To be honest It's less mind numbing than farming as the other jobs. Arm of the Destoyer and Shoulder Tackle are nice tools to have.
This doesn't change or affect my point. Even CASTERS have instant no cd (outside of gcd) ranged attack/claiming abilities. A distance closer does not fill this role because of the cd. Prepatch you would have had little chance. I suppose I should say the class needs it and not monk spicificly.Out of curiosity I just took my MNK to Apkallu camp to experience this PTSD-inducing farming experience and I have to say....I'm not seeing it. Stand behind a fence, barrier or anything that prevents you from moving forward. Target mob within range. Shoulder tackle. It hits the mob, does damage. Mob runs around and hits you. Ranged attack.
Best example I can think up off hand. That one Wolf in AK on the other side the barrier that Tanks like to pull while fighting the Cultist. You can pull it with Shoulder Tackle. You don't fly to it. Clipping the section to the next. You hit the wall. The effect hits the mob. Its a ranged attack!
Its not super useful. Its still a ranged attack.
Yes.....casters do have ranged abilities, very observant of you.
you know that you just describe a bug exploit?Stand behind a fence, barrier or anything that prevents you from moving forward. Target mob within range. Shoulder tackle. It hits the mob, does damage. Mob runs around and hits you. Ranged attack.

It's not. It works as intended. The same thing happens with Spineshatter Dive and any other movement ability in the game when movement isn't possible.
Monk can claim and farm fine without a ranged ability. Either you're doing it wrong, love homogenization, or believe this is LGBTI discrimination. This doesn't change or affect my point.
