they are fixing that btw..... think i heard you need to be the rank to use same rank skills. But no need to limit it further like ffxi. what sucked. BTW dancer was a hybrid and depending on your skill in timing can be better the a pld at tanking.yes ff is base on hybrid like RDM but they still have a role matter how much you can hybrid you still end up making something if you make a mage in ff12 that use white mage black mage and time mage spell but also have a sword you made a red mage which in FF history is a hybrid role class they not better then a war, whm, blm, time mage but they make up for it with there own spell like endspell.
I don't mind the hybrid system but limit it, it really dumb seeing a Pug walking around with Cure2 and best spell just because he level other class to 50. at least make it like FFXI if cure is level 2 you can't use it on Pug too your level 4 that would make more sense then seeing a Pug with level 2-5 version of lancer spell on a level 1 class.![]()
Playing with no Job is for soloing, playing with a Job is beneficial to party-play. Not having to grind that Job is actually better for the casual player to hop in parties without having to go through another 50 levels worth of grinding just to catch up to other people.
Yes people may consider you gimped if you are not using Jobs after you have unlocked them, specifically to party play. Maybe some mobs will be too tough to just go into fighting carelessly. All jobs are pretty much just specific roles, nothing more, nothing less.
pretty much i can explain it.I don't think it's gimping at all if they are just different. We'll have to see though...if they make it necessary to have a few of the abilities of a certain job for a particular fight or dungeon, etc...then I think that will be very unfair and forcing people to possibly use a class or find someone to be in their party to play that job, or else fail. That's where elitism comes in. That is where equality between classes and jobs leaves. I think it's important for all classes and jobs to be a beneficial addition to any team in their own unique way, but also not necessarily...necessary for success. It's hard to explain.
DO NOT WANT THIS LIKE FFXI WHERE WE HAD THE REQUIREMENT OF NEEDING TO BE SAY A MNK/NIN FOR END GAME BECAUSE THAT ONLY "WORKED" ALL SET UPS SHOULD WORK TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO ENJOY THEIR CHARACTER THEY WAY THEY WANT. Why can we create our characters but have no control over what we can do. ( not angry or yelling just making it noticable)
And who said it needs to be like this? Just because i do not want to be restricted doesn't mean I will act carelessly. Really people stop being elitists there is no need for it in games.Playing with no Job is for soloing, playing with a Job is beneficial to party-play. Not having to grind that Job is actually better for the casual player to hop in parties without having to go through another 50 levels worth of grinding just to catch up to other people.

Kilta, the thing about that is it isn't SE that intentionally makes up certain job combinations that are requirements, its the playerbase and elitism that set those boundaries. I doubt that SE will be able to balance each and every class perfectly enough to where this doesn't happen. Players will always find the best way to do things, how to do them, and when to do them. Thats how it is in any MMORPG. Now, the current Armory System by itself is meant for solo players to play in their own style, equip any abilities they have earned (Zenaku, i'm pointing at you. :P), and equip any armors they have made or purchased. That is the whole point of the armory system.pretty much i can explain it.

The Job system is meant for party play of course, which is usually how hardcore players level up. Though, battles have required nothing more than brute force. The job system and balancing that is going on is supposed to bring about more tactful battles, more thought, and more teamwork (dungeons, so to speak). At least this is to say what they want in this game.
That may have been how it worked in FFXI, but with FFXIV, nobody even asks that, they only shout for people with Rank 44+ for Raptor parties, and for BW Leves Dunesfolk Ranine and Cracked. I also do not think that is how its going to work after the updates because of the job system.FFXI:

Player 1: So since you are GLA 44, do you have PLD unlocked? we need a tank for the raptor party.
That is probably as far as demands will go. Otherwise, they will probably ask what job skills you have unlocked.

Am talking about before they add the job system let's say they never did and there endgame events right? ok people going to ask you what build you are and what spell you have if you don't have them you can't tank/heal or DPS for them on this boss or on this event.Kilta, the thing about that is it isn't SE that intentionally makes up certain job combinations that are requirements, its the playerbase and elitism that set those boundaries. now with the job system that pretty much fix the issue![]()

why is the current system for solo only? Oh right the stupid min maxer making up stupid complainsand people following them like lambs to slaughter. (sorry i'm peeved off the elitist will "win" again)
I may end up playing The secret world if all the stupid bs from ffxi comes back. TSW is an mmo that seems to be a mix of social and puzzle solving. There are no classes or levels players earn exp to earn points to make up their own build. And devs said you can pretty much do what you want.
Lets try something new with ffxiv. Letrs not allow elitist/ min/maxers run the game. Lets snuff out them forcing the community to bend to their will.
OH and fyi. the current system IS NOT JUST for soloing, SE said CASUAL (leveling) parties also. and high end content will be ware jobs are mennt for which again.... doesn't need to be like this. I rather make up a build I'm good at and play in a party and be good. Then be forced into a build I am not good at then be bad.Like i sucked at ninja but i was forced to level it.
You know that wasn't an issue.... and if the system works well enough players can have any build and still bring down enemies. It is how you play not what you play as or your gear.Am talking about before they add the job system let's say they never did and there endgame events right? ok people going to ask you what build you are and what spell you have if you don't have them you can't tank/heal or DPS for them on this boss or on this event.

Exactly, party play is going to have more of an emphasis on what Job you are going to play as. That alone dictates what role you are going to play in a party. Right now, the only question you need to ask is "hey what rank are you? oh! 44 huh? well we happen to have a raptor party, wanna join?" Class doesn't matter at all right now because thats just the way it is.
Kilta, again, lol.. You can play however you want, thats what soloing is for. As for party play, people want to set records, people want to achieve more than just exping, people want a challenge, and with everyone being a Red Mage, it just doesn't cut it. Its not under anyones' control about how other people will want you to have certain armor equipped, certain DPS weapon, etc. Not everyone is going to be like this anyways.
What you are saying is that a party should consist of people that dont give a shit about eachother and play their own style. That, in no way, involves any form of teamwork. Even with just the armory system, after that stats are rebalanced, people are going to min-max everything anyways, and it would possibly be harder to meet demands of party leaders without the job system.
No matter what, elitists always exist, always out there. I couldn't even get in a Broken Water leve-link party today because i was one rank below what they were asking for. That's just how things are though, so instead, i leveled Conjurer up to 38 today playing solo.
