Next time you are in game just type 14/F/Cali and you will be rich in no time
What.. tuff puff thing you guys talking about....
Heli's Black Market open for business. Sells black market items for your exotic needs.
closed for business till further notice
There's your problem
You'd be fine if you bought a place in Limsa or Gridania :P
For seriousness...
Sell mats; leather, ingots, fabric, lumber...they sell well and fast, even low-level NQ. You just have to spend some time in Quick Synth and maybe buy the pre-mats
Materia is still good gil on my server (especially QT3; they were going for almost 40K per yesterday)
Dungeons (high-DR ones especially)
Treasure Hunt parties, get 8 people with a Pieste each and you get free gil
Sell EX primals for 1mil per hour / 7.
yeah but depends.
If your wondering why i add repair costs to all them, its because i'm going off myself all 50's & the number of classes i use DOM/DOW/DOL/DOH. & teleport costs is obvious i actually enjoy playing (contrary to the FFXIV teams beliefs) not spending my time running everywhere & taking unessassary damage et.c.
Dungeons - Ends up with almost as much Gil as when i start after repairs, teleport costs. maybe 300-4000gil left over if your lucky depending how many times you run. But will have damage left which you will need to repair so.... not really any Gil left over.
Beastman quests - are good even teleport & Repair costs aside. it'll slowly grow. 1400-2700 gil
Treasure maps - Solo after teleport costs not worth it, also repairs... you make less 300Gil, even less if your after a specific map up to -3000k gil Yes Minus. So not worth it. 8 man maps with 8 to 16 maps is worth is teleport costs & repair costs still give you 20-50k <--but honestly how many are going to do this daily let alone monthly... Probably the same 32 on every server. everyone else is busy with having Fun doing stuff that drops armor & weapons & No gil.
Guildhests -first time ONLY drop some decent Gil. (after first time not really worth it)
Levequests - havnt cheaked them out in a while but they werent worth it last time i did them.
^^all 50's you have no reason to do these.
(if i start on 18k Gil for the week, after doing all the stuff i do including above i'll be lucky to have 8k to 32k by the end of the week & if i do make a profit its generally used for SB gear which you get Ice resistance materia for which is worth 14gil..... Or spending 120k on a mount or 25k on a minion or x2 that.....After patch 2.2 it'll be x4. So no Gil left over no matter how many times you run stuff. ITs a joke really worst economy in any mmo i've played. i've seen markets as bad BUT at least you have credits to spend in them & credits left after buying overpriced stuff. (mainly because they dont stack everything at 99.... Genious i know, you can buy what u need!)
They really need to fire the people in charge of gil or go back to the 1.0 system.
So i guess to answer the original question, Your screwed no matter what you do until they replace the people in charge of the economy in game.

First, you can't add in teleport costs for anything except to run the content. You have a unique amount of teleport fees (some people will port more than you, others less) so you can't count it unless you need it for the content you are running.
Repair costs...ultimately, unless you are wiping a ton or spending a long time gathering/crafting, are negligible as well. And if you have crafters at 50 they're even less since repairing your own gear costs less than a vendor, especially if you gather the mats to repair
Lv50 dungeons, with a pre-made (meaning, you shouldn't be wiping) have little repair costs, so all the gil you earn is a positive. You don't run random to earn gil. And there are no teleport fees for a dungeon (Coil the exception, but you don't run Coil for gil)
Solo maps; I believe I get ~1600 gil for a Boarskin, and can't remember for Toad, but with the max port fee being around 650...its positive. And repairs? I think for running a map I need to spend maybe 50-100 gil on repairs (depending on map), so yeah... Then there's all the mats you can sell, some for 1K per, or more
But you don't run solo for gil either...you run Pieste maps for gil. A group of 8 can earn 13K-40K (depending on how many 5K chests drop) off 8 maps, double for 16. You can safely ignore repair and teleport fees (which are really low, since you port only for your map and a good group will try to minimize port fees) for that kind of gil. And that's just the gil that drops; mats increase this amount.
I run maps groups a lot. They are fun and fast with even a meh group (get 8 WHM together. Super easy and fast and you can poke fun at the females going for BiS)
You're doing things wrong then. Its easy to make gil if you put a little effort into it. Which you don't seem to want to do...
Also, you say you have DoH...make mats. Not finished products...mats. They sell like mad and are easy to make. But...oh no, you have to put in some effort into finding the pre-mats yourself to maximize profit.
Get a Miner or Botanist to 50 and on a reset,
Run BCB if you have a static etc
Run HL Duty Roulette once: Bonus gil and myth
Run LL Duty Roulette Once: bonus gil
Run GuildHesit Roullette once.
Run CT until you cap myth
Mine a treasure map every 18 hours, do peitskin or toadskin maps. Hoard them and to them all at once, or do them as you get them
If you have a miner/botanist to 50, make sure you gather clusters whenever they are available, refer to the clock,
http://www.ffxivclock.com/#/
Clusters always sell well, gathering is the only way to acquire them (that I know of). Optionally you can mine gold ore etc when it's up, the HQ ones sell really well but don't bother doing that unless you have BiS mining gear and it's melded for the best possible HQ Proc Rates.
Use all the philo you don't need on peacock ore, overstocked but sells well for me. And you should net 40k+ a week doing ruollette's and peitskin/toadskin maps (or more).

A couple things:
1. Why do you have teleport costs for dungeons? You know you don't need to teleport at all for them right?
2. Dungeons, especially your High Level, duty roulette daily dungeons DO give a nice 4-6Kish gil each clear to your bank. Also, your repairs for ONE dungeon run are minimal.
3. You get other items/drops from dungeons which sometimes can be sold/buy things that can be sold/can be crafted into things you can sell.
-So yeah, that rare, but not ex dungeon piece might only sell for 1200 gil, but that WILL cover your repairs + some change.
-And yeah, tome mat prices have plummeted, but 2kish per mat is still nice. (and if you wait until you can buy 5+/buy next time you are in Mor Dorna anyway, you can reduce your 'travel' expenses) So while it might take a week or so to get enough Philo tomes to sell 10 mats, 10 philo items x 2K ea=20,000 (on top of your daily runs)
-If you are a high end crafter (or have such a friend) you can potentially milk Philo items for even bigger profit margins (nothing OMG huge, but more than 20K return)
4. Being the 'Player in Need' (*cough* tank *cough*) also = larger gil bonus.
5. It IS still effective to spam/speedrun certain dungeons with a solid team of players...Killing the Mobs+tombs for clear+ speed=gil. You can do a full night's worth of speed runs of the same dungeon and only need 1 gear repair. (So selling 2 Philo items=gear repair bill, and that's only if you did 8+ runs, which if you did= all the gil from the dungeon+6 philo mats to sell (or 8K in just tome sales after repairs are factored in).
6. You can still spirit bond while doing daily dungeons. I DON'T suggest running in with full 'spiritbond' gear, but replacing 1-3 items of your I90 gear with 'spiritbonding' stuff, won't slow down a run/make you a undergeared for most if not all level 50 dungeons. (Spiritbonding is only actually profitable if you can make your own items...otherwise, too much risk for potentially a loss)
1.Beastmen Quests are actually nicer for the shards/small gil puddles than the actual gil. But, they are tedious, and depending on how you do them/which daily quests you are assigned/set teleports, your time:gil ratio is actually kinda low. Still, a good place to make a small bankroll, and again, do it everyday=adds up.
2. Again, you can spiritbond gear+do these quests, the spiritbonding is slow this way, but once a piece is bonded, you can still make some gil...if lucky (in order for Spiritbonding to be profitable, you should be able to make your own gears)
1. I agree, overall, maps aren't worth it. ESPECIALLY if you buy them solely to make gil. (If you are buying them to farm for a specific item ...like a minion for example, then potentially worth the investment).
2. Still, if you CAN gather them, it is worth the time:gil profits...if you SELL them.
3. And farming your own maps, and clearing as a group IS cost saving *if* you need a specific drop from a specific mat, and that item is more costly than the maps value (Ideally at least 4x the price).
-True, but they take like 2 minutes to clear via your Duty Roulette each day, and give a small amount of gil+company seals. They take so little time and effort, it's not a bad idea to do them if you have the time to spare. They just aren't spammable for gil/a solid source.
1. They still give 400ish gil+ for battle class 50's per clear. Not only that, they drop items that can be occasionally used/Spiritbonded or sold. So you can potentially make more gil from that 1 leve.
2. You can, as a level 50 battle class, typically clear them in under 4 minutes. And since you DON'T need to set your HP/Tele to the area=gil savings. Plus, you can 'free' tele to the npc, after every leve (I do it after I clear the ones I selected)
-Pick and choose the ones that you can do fast (I purposefully don't 'accept' some as they take me too long, are a pain).
- 60min/4min= 15 leves per hour... lets say, you can do 12 per hour 12x400gil=4800 gil/hour (not including any additional drops you can sell on wards)
-Again, perfect for Spiritbonding....same spiritbinding rules apply (you need to be able to craft the items for actual profit margins to work in your favor)
3. Leves are even better used on DOH, where you can turn in items you can craft/make super cheap for a small gil reward....but also for a small shard reward...again, these add up. The trick is to find a leve that gives you a solid gil+shard (or expensive mat) reward with a very low to no teleport costs. Sounds impossible but it is not.
And to be clear:
Just by doing my Daily Low/High level dungeons every day+farming up 1 map + the other random stuff I happened to do in game =25K+ a day everyday that I could donate to my FC bank towards housing. Not a single dime I put in my FC bank came from my gathering/crafting/ etc profits which I also made each day but kept on my character. Now yes, there are plenty of days where I only make like 27K, but there have also been days when I make 4x's that. In addition to depositing over 1,250,000 in my FC bank, I made a little over 2 million on my character since this patch release. ....and I do not work hard to make gil.
So, maybe you need to instead of thinking of ways to MAKE gil, you need to think of ways to SAVE gil.
1.DON'T teleport everywhere.
-Use your chocobo/chocobo porters.
-Do the housing quest for each city. Then you can for free, tele from town to the housing ward...in both LL/Grid, that can get you 1/2 way to some of your favorite destinations/zones in that area.
-If you do teleport, tele to 'favorite' locations as often as possible, and then chocobo from that location to your destination.
-Getting even 1 zone closer to your 'destination' before teleing=savings
-Set your favorites and Homepoint smartly
2. Patience is a virtue
-Don't buy items you don't NEED or that can be replaced in 1 month of farming anyway. If you just leveled your WHM to 50, and aren't planning on maining it, you don't NEED expensive WHM gear. Just wear CT/Darklight/lvl 50 dungeon farmed gear (free w/ farming).
-Don't spend outside what you are netting in. Meaning, if you only make 10K gil a day...Don't buy a 100K item every week. Either figure out a way to make more gil, or save for said item....or at least, only buy what you NEED. (no you don't NEED a special mount for 120K for example...that is vanity and you can buy it at anytime...but you might very well NEED a stack of food for your coil runs this week.)
-If you find yourself buying more than you are saving...most of the time, that is because you are trying to buy your way in the game vs. naturally progress through the game. Basically, you are using your gil to circumvent time. This is the most costly way to play. You can literally get every BiS item you need for a battle class (and pretty darn good secondary BiS) without spending a dime. All it takes is time/farming. (Myth/allagan). And even before your are ready for coil/ex primals...your basic AF+Darklight+CT+a Primal/FC/or NQ relic weapon is enough to do all other non-ex primal/coil content.
-Ask yourself 'how long will I use/need this item?' BEFORE you buy it. Something you plan on only wearing for a month, shouldn't be an investment...but something you plan on using for 3 months plus should.
-Vanity will ALWAYS cost you...as it should
3. Crafting and Gathering:
-So the reason, you level these isn't so much to MAKE gil but to SAVE gil. Sure, you can make some nice profits from them, but it comes and goes...but you can always save with them.
-Do your own repairs=savings. Dark Matter prices aren't steep and if you don't mind fixing your own gear/have the skill=small savings which add up over time.
-Farm your own mats/mats for friends to craft for you with DOL. Every gather you do=savings. You never need to sell a single ore, but if you gather every ore you use=gil you never spent.
-Craft your own gears. Lets face it, if you can craft it (especially if you can get the mats for free/cheap via your DOL/friends), you will save money.
-Craft your own consumables....or at least gather/craft something of equal value that sells quickly each week to negate your costs.
The 1.0 system wasn't any better...it had stagnation and flux too. We're in a stagnant phase currently in game (which is due to house prices being retarded). For all you know, 2.2 with new crafting/gathering items WILL respike the markets+you'll have the current gil making methods and maybe a couple new ones.
