Beast tribe minions/mounts feel like a slap in the face.

Those prices are fine. Fancy mounts are usually pretty expensive in games.

Though as for vendor unlocks, I think they should have included more like exclusive vanity pieces, a few unique i70 gear pieces for gil (since darklight is common anyways) or maybe even materias/food.

From my experience with other MMO's, the daily quest vendors even unlocked a single BiS accessory piece or high end materia at max rank. This encourages more players to grind and generally keeps them subbed longer.

yah, it's not like you get handed a bunch of mounts, for free...like all the other mounts in the game. so why do you suddenly need to pay 120k for beast mounts?
then they gonna add new beast dailies/mounts too, for sahagin, goblins, shiva; we gonna pay 600k, combined, for all 5? quite a lot.

then again, this is kinda like wha wha, i'm entitled to the beast mounts, give them to me nao!
so meh. most people just run around in that stuff, for a few days, to show off, then go back to chocobo.

also, this isn't necessarily the highest rank; just at the moment. They might add gear later, something like Odin/behe gear.
BiS, not gonna happen, it's just an illusion anyways. It depends on circumstance, and all stats are quite the same, dps-wise.
It's like the argument over if DRG or MNK is the best. Just different sides of the same coin.

I think the real bigger issue is how difficult it is to make money in this game, due to the market economy being terrible.

People always say this but they never define what a good market economy is.

On Phoenix its very easy to make 100k per day by crafting stuff and selling it on the MB.

Methinks that the definition of "good economy" for most people is "I make tons of gil with zero effort".

There are 2 issues I believe. First, is that you grind daily for hopes of some sort of recognition at the end, the mounts, but then are asked to pay. The second is that the mounts are effectively just vanity items with no real difference in game from others.

I think mounts should be rewards not cost gil. Imagine doing the unicorn quest only to unlock a vendor that wants money.
Secondly, the mounts should have some purpose usefulness - that they don't I believe is a major flaw in the game. Even if the abilities were special emotes/action would be better then what they are now.

The issue of price is not the issue - in time we will be able to afford them. But why should we pay for a reward and why would why want them if they do nothing!

You just defined every single vanity piece of gear. Ever.

You guys need to look at other games. I know you all despise WoW, but their mounts (ground and flying) used to cost 100-1000+ gold. That took a heck of a lot more time to get than 100,000 gil. And people went around collecting / paying for all the different ones. Hell, you realize other P2P games charge REAL MONEY / USD for certain mounts, right? You should all be thankful that SE hasn't decided to make exclusive mounts that you have to buy with cash.

Well, technically, you can only get the Coeurl mount by paying extra for the Collector's edition, same thing with the Baby Behemoth minion. While the wind-up Dalamud and upcoming wind-up Bahamut require you to buy the soundtracks.

Though on the other hand, you do get other stuff, so you're not only paying for the mount and minions.

Regardless, making the gil necessary to buy these is easy, people just don't want to make an effort. For crying out loud, there's a guy in this topic still complaining that repair costs are too high.
