This. We have a steady progression system already. They're called Allaghan Tomestones.
The only reason trials of the magians was inserted in FFXI was because the core of the game didn't have a place for steady progression. FFXIV is built around the core of a modern MMO, which has a place for a steady progression system. ToTM in FFXIV is unecessary.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I love the 'No' answers here when they failed to realize many quests in XIV ARR as of today are basically what ToTM did ^^
