I think it really has to do with some hardcore MMO's masochistic love of having to "work for" the right to play content. As if repeating things over and over for drops and artificial progression walls somehow makes the experience more enriching.

I actually agree with the OP. Echo, sure. Farm? No. He is 100% correct that there will be no point in even looking at CT, because you can just run coil with a fc a million times with your main and just let everybody pass on all the alt gear you need. Presto. For me though who is stuck on titan x and cant get a static for t5, it means sleeping through those challenges and getting a fresh boost. So I'm not complaining. I do agree that he is correct though.
You're assuming that Coil willnot have the same lockout rule as CT. Though you can run T1-5 over and over again, you're only allowed a single item per week. They just came out with CT, they're not stupid enough to make it obsolete the following patch. I guarantee you that Coil will have the same restriction so that people can get an i80 and i90 a week while working on i100 or i110 gear.I actually agree with the OP. Echo, sure. Farm? Or, they will make it so that CT gives 10-30 of the new tome so that people find it a very efficient way of getting their weekly cap of new tome gear.... there's a million ways to keep CT and Turns 1-5 relevant.
Or they boost CT gear to i90. Making some of it BiS (for i90) and keeps the event relevant along side Coil 1-5. Wouldn't be the first time they boosted ilvl for relevance.

Guys, you're approaching this completely backwards. The content that currently exists (CT, turns 1-5) are not changing. They aren't going anywhere. Echo is the only difference that's being added.
The progression of gear from i50-i90 is NOT CHANGING. The only real change to these dungeons is the inclusion of gear higher than i90.
Nobody is getting free i90 gear. The only way the old content is really going to become easy is if higher players go back and carry older players.
And even if i90 becomes easier to obtain (it will and SHOULD), there's the new tier of gear and a whole new set of high-end dungeons that will just lock the "terrible casuals" out, YET AGAIN.
whats the point of playing if ur just having everything handed to u?
What is being handed to anyone here? even myth gear requires mindlessly grinding numerous dungeons to fully gear out and even more so now to hit cap every week! don't down players progression just because "YOU" choose to do things differently.

What comes to those new items and their ilvl i hope it wont go big as 120 or so, ideal numbers would be armor being 95-100 max and weapons 100-105 max. Rapidly raising gear levels will only have bad results in long-run, so from now on ilvl should preferably only rise 5 and 10 at max to keep it undercontrol. Also T1-5 should have some sort of loot lockout 1-2 items a week so it wont make CT and Extremes obsolate untill 2.3 hits, we are already lacking meaningfull content item vise even with 4 new turns and one new extreme that gets added in 2.2.

If Coil 1-5 doesn't have a lockout then yes CT does need better gear. Coil 1-4 can be done in full DL. (actually less) So there is no point of CT.
