What i was meaning by the Real world comparison is to show how silly i think the female armour tends to be when compared to the male version. Every male character gets to look respectable (more or less) in their gender armour, but the female characters are always impractical (at best).
I mean, take even the WHM armour for example. It's all covered by a robe, but for the male character they wear pants underneath; The female characters wear a skirt so short that it doesn't even hide their panties. The summoner armour is the same, but our skirt is a little longer, but it's almost a microskirt.
It's getting downright annoying, i'm in the game to be an adventurer, not eye candy for the other adventurers. I mean, i'm not -against- the armour being in the game for people that want to wear it, but give those of us who don't want to look like eye candy some options.

Stripper, really? Only in America maybe.Gotta say, i'm getting a little tired of the gender armour.. I don't know if even half the costume designers have actually spoken to a real woman, but not all of us want to wear miniskirts, high stockings and generally look like every outfit was designed to be modeled in front of a guy; While the male version of the outfit looks like an actual outfit that's suited to be worn outside.
I mean really.. you see both of those outfits being worn by people in the real world; Most would think that the man was a chef at a restaurant (even if they thought the colour scheme was gaudy); While the look of the female armour would get her pegged as a theme stripper.
...
Actually the female armor is what you would find on the streets of Akiba and in any maid cafe. I mean that sincerely and I love adore the female fashions. I just wish we got the black cat, too.
Perhaps 'stripper' is too strong of a description, but really "maid cafe" attire isn't much better ('cause if anyone thinks the maid attire is intended to be anything but eye candy...).
I'm not complaining about the armour being an option, i'm complaining about this kind of armour being the -only- option for women.

Aww the heart effect comes from usable items?
I wanted linked rings. ;_;
Is anyone else disappointed that the male outfit just looks like a rehashed Culinarian AF top? I already have a Culinarian AF top now I feel like I will have 2![]()
I hope we can get both female and male outfits. Or have these SPECIAL outfits somehow reflect on a character's GENDER.
Although I understand and sympathize where you're coming from, I actually like this attire - the maid costume is more in the 'elegant lolita' fashion style that is actually a popular subculture in Japan which I've always had a fascination with (I admit I squeed when I first saw that concept art for these costumes back in one of the Live letters last year).Gotta say, i'm getting a little tired of the gender armour.. I'm not saying -don't- make the miniskirt (and other armours) but give the women a chance to wear the respectable clothes (and of course give the guys the chance to wear their own *ahem* stylized clothing.)
Incidentally, Square Enix does actually have women on it's art design team, so your argument that SE's art team are out of touch isn't right - if anything FFXIV is one of the more tamer MMOs I've seen when it comes to female fashion and armour (about the only slutty armour in the game is the Colosseum gear, and even that makes sense in context). FFXI was a far worse offender in that regard.
Anyway, I can't wait for this! I can't wait to see my bf's character in the maid costume hehe.
Aww, the poor walrus!
To me the cat looks more like the Cait Sith minion, which would explain why a cat minion isn't included in the event. But then I'm probably wrong.![]()
