for those that wish to lock the quantity, they could offer a toggle to sell as stack only. those listing could perhaps show up as a different color on the list.

You won't need a toggle. Who would insist on selling stacks of 99 then? Market value would completely plummet. Moreso than it already has already.
@Seraseth:
No, the game isn't reality. But my metaphor is spot on and not easily dismissed with your "argument."
what ? i think you did not get the point
adding toggle is basically just UI upgrade, or more like more "sell slots" upgrade
whats stopping you list 40 solo items now ? nothing... only its more tedious
agreed. I rarely sell stuff in full stacks because its actually lower profit and and usually sells way slower. but splitting up a stack is really annoying.
at the least it would be nice if they gave us an option to split up our stacks and list it all at once instead of having to manually split and list over and over agian.
Current market example:
99 items @ 20 gil each <--- discount bulk price
50 items @ 25 gil each <--- lesser discount
10 items @ 50 gil each
1 item @ 200 gil each (designed for people that just want one)
Take away the "forced sell in stacks option:
99 items @ 20 gil each <--- discount bulk price
99 items @ 20 gil each <--- lesser discount
99 items @ 20 gil each
1 item @ 20 gil each (designed for people that just want one)
Very...interesting... market there. You buy in bulk, you get a discount. Simple market concept. In my opinion, it would kill the market.
fixed it for you :PCurrent market example:
99 items @ 20 gil each <--- discount bulk price
50 items @ 25 gil each <--- lesser discount
10 items @ 50 gil each
1 item @ 200 gil each
Take away the "forced sell in stacks option:
99 items @ 20 gil each
99 items @ 25 gil each ticked sell by stacks of 50
99 items @ 50 gil each ticked sell by stacks of 10
99 items @ 200 gil each ticked sell by stacks of 1
In my opinion people cut their own sales off if they go for the 99 stack. I sell 1, 3, 10 to a maximum 25 stack depending on the item. It is nice to see my items were sold and the offerings with 99 stacks are still available. I even get more money this way because a 99 stack is sold at a cheaper price normally. So I don't really get it, besides the bots who don't care and rely on mass sales even for little money. Why normal people do it, is beyond me.
What helps a lot is having multiple characters and knowing in what quantity a particular item is actually needed.
please make this happen. Not difficult to implement
I say no.
There would be more single items on the market, yes, but the price of those items would rise through exploitation of the market. I'd rather buy a reasonably priced stack and not have to buy any more for a while, than pay more every time for single items.
Frankly, OP,
I'd like it to be more like the AH in XI...make people either sell a full stack, or only one item at a time.
But stacks in XIV are mostly 99 now instead of 12. So what I think would be good is allowing only stacks of 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 99. And so on for Crystals, since they stack to 9,999...that's a lot of options though. Maybe for Crystals have the option to choose your own amount.
But really...I can't stand when the only choices I have are to buy a stack of 2 for an overpriced item, or buy a stack of some random number..like 16 of said item...for 200 gil less, but the overall price is more because I have to buy the whole stack when I only want one. And honestly, that's enough to turn me away. That's usually enough to entice me to just go gather it myself and not bother with the marketboard ever. It's just those times when I'm in a rush...gah.
Another thing I'd ask for is more stable prices...there's nothing but undercutting and undercutting...until something isn't worth selling anymore. But then some jerk in game called me a communist for asking for stable prices...and I was like "wow....thanks.."
