Ala Mhigo "After 2.0 story"

Also Gaius may be dead but he isn't the only one with an Army from the Garlean empire if I recall. Isn't there an emperor?

There is an emperor, but there are also several other legions. Both Darnus and Gaius led legions, rather than the entire Garlean army. From what we know of Garlemald etc, it's a monolithic entity and not something we can really 'take down' in the foreseeable future.

That being said, I can definitely see Ala Mhigo as a reclaimed city-state, although it's a Garlean base of operations in Eorzea. It's still hotly contested amongst the Eorzean alliance and by natives in Eorzea in little Ala Mhigo and stuff; the presence is definitely sorely missed. I see a union of beastmen/enlightened races in time for the next expansion as the core theme of ARR was the primal conflict, I think we could be pushing outwards to Ishgard, Sharlayan AND Ala Mhigo in 3.0, perhaps moving onto different continents etc in 4/5/6.0. I don't see the issue of data conflict in the way you present it, there already exists some muddied meaning in 2.1 with the castrums thrown up by the empire etc and their co-existence with pre-endgame plotlines.

Well right now 1st expansion seems to be the expansion that will open up what remains of Eorzea we can not explore yet.

If 3.0 opens up all of Eorzea then 4.0 and over certainly will begin expanding into the other Continents and if so most likely Garlean Empire and Far East will be the next place in 4.0.

Unless the entire battle is instanced and not part of the real map I can't really see them opening up a hostile area to players as a city State. If we have an expansion to reclaim Ala Mhigo, it would cause data confliction for those who finished the story portion and those that didn't.

I'd expect the retaking of Ala Mhigo being a pre-launch event for the expansion that'll focus on it. As for discrepancies in the story, I would lock off that zone to players that have not gotten up to a certain point in the story.

Of course, this means Ala Mhigo would not be a starting city like the other three, but something's gotta give, IMO.

That could work if done right and if SE plans to release parts of new major areas as part of Major Updates to prevent people from going too far into Expansion content areas.

However, anything can be their pre-release expansion event currently.

Just late note garlean king will be added in later on after expasion hits with newer elder primal but I am excited for ala mhigo and ishgard. Ishgard getting shiva as well

Don't forget guys, in the 2.2 story they mentiones the domans decided to attempt to free themselves from Garlean rule because of a war of succession in Garlemald, this can only mean one thing:

Emperor Solus Zos Galvus is dead.

This could have been added to bring in a story for us to go to war on Garlemald, after all they could have pulled forces out of the outlying outposts and forts, so we could yet liberate Ala Mhigo as part of a story of us attacking Garlemald.

I've heard that some people found what looks like the road to Ala Mhigo in East Shroud, but it's blocked off. I waned to see it. Is it at the bottom of the hill in the SE area that's too steep to climb down? Is there a road leading out of the shroud that is blocked by collapsed piller or a crashed juggernaut? BTW, there is a huge Garlean wall on the eastern side of the map. Is that the end of the shroud, or does the shroud continue on the other side? Is that wall the Ala Mhigo border?

It would be cool to see the place back in shape after 2.0 events.

Fighting yet another lowbie Gaius pawn in (somehow still[?!]) empire infested area would be lame.

I also want to see the people of little Ala Mhigo return to their home and not just sit there like nothing happened.
They were so miserable before that I want to see how they actually react to this situation.
