Anyone else see this move being met with an outcry from DPS who will want a mount as well? lol

Tanking dungeons to me stopped being fun in 2.1 with the enmity changes.
If I become an aggro magnet so the DDs can pull mad deeps without holding back and enjoying their role more, might as well be part of the fun and play a DD too.
Then there's stuff like Titan and Garuda extreme. Ifrit isn't doing healers any favours, either. The DD's role? Pull mad deeps, as always.... no wonder everyone plays them. If there's a mechanic, it won't be your responsability, so if you wipe, just blame the tanks or healers.
This only started happening in 2.1, when enmity signals became a misterious bar no one except the tank should care.I am working on leveling a tank, and it isn't fun. Every fight feels like a struggle to keep aggro from either overzealous or overgeared (roulette) dps.
The less responsability you give to DDs the more braindead they get. Mounts won't change this if you keep the retarded mechanics and responsability healer/tank only.

is the issue about tanks while you level up or tanks for endgame?
I'm sure you can't fix endgame tanks. either you enjoy it or not. and most of the time those that enjoy have a guild and probably a static for content and won't show up in your PF groups. putting PF ilvl requirements too high won't really help either, even though tanks can definitily get away with less gear compared to dps.
For leveling some kind of reward might actually have ppl try out tanking and eventually some of those might even like it and stay tanks for endgame.
But even if they add a new tank class it'll very likely be the same ppl that already tanked so far, unless it's a very different experience (ie evasion tank)
It would probably be a better option to allow tanks, and maybe even healers the option to change their "Need" to another class.
The issue with me personally, is in something like CT I don't want to roll Tank anymore because I got the gear I wanted, I want to focus on MNK now, so I"ll be rolling MNK from now on to Need the gear. If they gave me the option to change my need from Tank to MNK then I"d continue to play the tank role knowing that I could need something I"m aiming for rather that fulfilling a role that's in short supply.
In my opinion that is what it comes down to, the inability to Need something the person playing tank may want, so why should the fulfill a role where they don't need anything from the job.
the mounts lost their efficiency when we moved on to endgame

If they really want players to play as tanks more then they need to release Dark Knight or Samurai then

Let's be real. If they want players to play tanks, they need to be like dps- easy and free of too much responsibility. Is that something that sounds like fun or interesting encounters? Not to me. But that is what draws people to dps- rotations and flashy numbers. You have to make tanking like that to get those people. Placement, cooldowns, heavy gear requirements... high visibility... these are all deterrents. People play dps, because they don't like to be out front and center in a group. Unless tanks can be like that, it's probably not going to happen.

This is very true. I love playing scholar, but then it means I can never lot on gear for my bard unless I can get everyone in a group to agree to Greed it. More often than not as I've experienced though, folks may say ok to that, but then Need when it drops. Sure, I can go join on my bard, but then we're sitting around forever waiting on tanks and healers to join. I'd happily join groups as a healer and tank more often if I knew I had a fair shot for my own goals at the same time.It would probably be a better option to allow tanks, and maybe even healers the option to change their "Need" to another class.

Perhaps party leaders need a way to set custom lotting rules via party finder to help address this? That way rules can't be changed once in the instance or once people begin to join via party finder. I could go on about this in depth, but its a bit side tracking.

incentive of a mount imo will only make things worse... most of the people that would level a class for that would not be real tanks, and just flood us with more bad tanks. while we get queue pops faster, the runs will be worse than ever. I would much rather wait longer on my dps then fail a ton of runs or at best take 2x the time to complete due to bad tanks.

I really like tanking but that's me no mater what square gives us if the person does not want to tank they have the option not too and on top of that not everyone has the nack for it. To give out a mount so people will be tanks is like buying a cheap hooker you get a thrill and something out of it but its not always a good thing lol
