Well in this case it would be nice if they retained that mentality in the endgame by making raid lockouts class based instead of character based. Makes it impossible to provide multiple roles to a FC or assist secondary runs for lower ranking members in lockout raids. Thus alts become necessary to provide those or similar services.
If Square wants a "one character to rule them all" setup that's great. But take it all the way. Even a restricted "3 classes per character" or similar lockout could correct this problem.
And of course any RMT operation worth their salt will just laugh and funnel their resources through multiple accounts. The extra 15$ means nothing to them, assuming they aren't skipping over that too with hacking/keylogging.
