Currently I run CT, CM, Prae with spirit bonding accessories set (vit or main attribute), and I dps or heal just fine.

There isn't much wrong with wearing a few bits of seasonal or fancy gear here and there - if the rest of your gear makes up for it.
I can wear my seasonal head and still hit 3700HP on my SCH easily, and many a time I am still the higher geared healer. Can do the same on my WAR and have 7k+. I don't even have close to the best gear available either.
If I spiritbond in Prae or CM I at least wear class specific sets that I make HQ. So I am at least at a greater level than most 'entry level' players still.
There's a limit to it all, the second you perform less than the averagely geared player of your class - it's no longer a novelty for anyone else.

You've assumed wrong.Actually, I'd rather make the suggestion of giving the option of turning character view off. I would assume losing stats in any department would be the same, be it weapon or armor. What if I was a scholar or summoner and decided not to use my pet, would that bother you more than wearing a swimsuit?
If Damage is = to 8 of a primary stat, removing your zenith relic is the same as removing 583 Mind. Putting on the swimsuit top/bottom is costing you 58 Mind by comparison.
On topic though, I think wearing seasonal gear is selfish. If you wanna SB a few pieces of gear, go for it. Just SB gear that is fitting of your class. Wearing a bunch of crafting gear or seasonal gear is the same as saying "I could do more to help this run go faster/smoother, but meh, f you guys." to me. Could say SBing is technically the same to a lesser extent, but I get it we all need a little gil now and then, so it bothers me less.

Except losing stats is still losing stats, which is why I didn't compare weapon loss to armor.
I'll just quote you on this:
Glad, you didn't compare those two. Losing stats is not the same in any department, as it strongly depends on which department you are losing stats in.
I don't care what people wear so long as they take part and do their jobs. Had a CT yesterday with two tanks in party B wearing spiritbonding gear, who refused to tank. Sure, spiritbond - but do your job as well. If you're incapable of even that then don't come at all.

Amen. I dps'd Atomos (as DRG) with my snowman suit and our group still killed it first without LB @_@ I also have a string hunch I was easily doing more damage than the other guy with me <_<
But I went full-on for Behemoth ^^

But I think there's a difference between wearing jewelry that's level 48 or 49 to spiritbond, and wearing any level 1 seasonal gear. At least with the jewelry, you're only taking a minor hit to your stats from what they would be if you were wearing darklight or myth jewelry. The hit to stats from ilvl 70/80/90 gear to level 1 gear is going to be way larger.
If people spirit bond to the point they are far below their potential gear level or wear seasonal gear, i just do not heal them until they switch.

This is the stance I have taken. The other day there was a SCH wearing seasonal gear in CT. I called him/her out and was kicked. Since then, if you're not taking the dungeon seriously enough to wear real gear, I'm not taking you seriously enough to keep you alive when I'm on my healer.
Light a man a fire and he will be warm for a night. light a man ON fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
