But that means it is most likely going to happen, if that is what the majority would like. Unless the developer makes an dedicated effort to go against what the majority wants.

I would rather the game be more about skill rather than gear. Gear should be a given, but achievements earned. It'd be nice to kill Twintania with a pug for once, since my playtimes are really awkward I have trouble finding a static group, even within my FC/LS mates. Crystal Tower actually has a neat concept that I'd like them to do more of. Basically if 5-6 people die it doesn't screw the rest of us. EX fights (especially titan) would be fun if 1-2 deaths didn't kill the entire party by scaling down the titan fight difficulty per death. Basically increasing his overall hp by 1,000,000 per death and lowering his overall damage by 5% up to 15% total. Just ideas to make the game balanced.
MMORPGs are made not to be hardcore anymore due to a specific reason. Real life > Game. And developers are realizing this as well. To get more money to cater to the Casual fanbase with adding a few Challenging fights to make it casual/hardcore friendly, they do not want it to be another Lineage 2.

Agree mostly Except gear will always be there as it is progress, just hopefully it does not become the be all and end all like WoW.
They made a huge mistake when they made mythology and coil gear the same ilvl. It was a step in the right direction when they made allagan weapons i95 but it was too late. I have no desire to progress through T5 when allagan weapons are barely an upgrade. I come from Rift where I was in a super competitve raiding guild going for world firsts and actually got a few if not region firsts. When I got here and saw that you can get top end gear from simply capping myths, I lost all desire to actually grind out coil and progress. I progress on T5 casually now but unless it's required to do T6... I probably won't clear it anytime soon because I frankly don't care. Twintania doesn't feel like a big menacing end of raid boss.
14 in general is missing that. In Rift, I always had gear second in mind and clearing the instance first in mind. I didn't care about gear til after the instance was cleared and it was on farm. I think part of it is that the coil itself doesn't feel grand at all. Constant zoning, no trash, no epic rooms to fight in, just sort've blah all the way through. But then I look at CT who does have epic and grand rooms to fight in but the fights themselves are lack luster. I really can't put my finger on it. I just don't have the desire to get BiS gear anymore like I used to in Rift or FFXI.
If anything I'd just like to see more cool cosmetic stuff that's like "hey I did something cool/dedicated/super hard"
I like that it's not terribly difficult for people to level and gear up to play with me; having a ton of time to burn doesn't necessarily mean being good at the game, and vice versa
I accept this philosophy with respect to games overall, but not necessarily within a given game.
Or to put it more simply, if you're going to make a game for the super-elite hardcore, it should be made like that in its entirety to the extent that 'casuals' steer clear and go elsewhere (though that's obviously not good for business).
And likewise, if a game is made to be enjoyed by casual players, there doesn't need to be super-challenging 'hardcore' content in it at all. The players that want that should be playing the previous game.
Basically, whoever the target audience encompasses should be catered to throughout.
As much as people stomp their feet about developers pandering to casuals, the opposite is just as bad. I've often seen people clamor for 'hardcore' content and tell anyone that opposes that they should go play 'one of the hundreds of other games for casuals' out there, but the truth is, even if you did, they're probably going to end up following you at some point and whining about the state of that game, before demanding that the developers make it harder. :-/
Ideally, we could have an infinite selection of games that suits everyone's tastes (I'd go for a laid-back, collection-centric type of game with no cash shop and no guilds, myself), but unfortunately, we're stuck with what's available. So nobody really ends up with an ideal game and all we can do is try to shift them one way or the other.
However foolish it may be, I like to believe people will eventually get tired of new games just adding new map packs to the same game they bought 6 months ago.It is not. But it does not stop CoD for spawning a new game or 2 every year. There is reason why CoD makes millions and a great game like Journey makes peanuts ... Does it make it better, err no. But it is how it is.
Take Transformers... I hate it, but lets compare it to lets say Much Ado about nothing. One is a masterpiece, one is blockbuster. No points of guessing which. But which you think made more money, will spawn more sequels and will have more shows just like it and a better production value and was given way more money to be made.
I have to agree that there really are no goals per say to complete in this game. I know it was released not that long ago. We farm content for gear... that's about it!
If someone so chooses, they can do nothing but wanderer's palace *only* and max out their myth tokens...and buy all ilvl90 gear. I'm sure they'd parade around saying how awesome they are and look down on people with less gear naturally. I consider that similar to that wow south park episode where they killed like 10 million sheep or whatever to get max level.
But basically, there is nothing in this game worth working on to be your goal if you are one to try to gain that kind of attention. Ok, some of you are going to say "well, go get your twintania weapon n00b" I don't know about your server, but I see them quite often now. In fact, there is a free company on my server that sells twintania runs now. So me having one, I can just be like the people that bought a run... There is nothing that anyone can obtain in this game that can't be carried sadly. That aside, the game is still fun, so I still play it. But my friends that like to get all obsessed with gear, I just laugh... Being the "best" at your class? Billy bob can still clear all the content, and he did it with his banjo... :/
