I feel like what people are asking for is to be able to hold the party hostage just because they want to stay. How is that fair? Vote abandon is a simple majority rules and in reality that's pretty much as fair as it gets. Even if you feel that people often give up too easily, it's not your decision to say that your values are more important than theirs.

This is really silly.
And that is why some players are suggesting that the players that pick "no" can stay behind in the group and wait for the group to fill up. They want to continue so let them they're not forcing their ideals on you anymore if you the person that picked yes gets to leave the instance while they get to stay behind because they picked no.
