I think I remember finding a hat that I was so terrified to look at because it was so ugly, that I immediately disabled head slot and left it that way ever since. (I don't remember what hat it was though.) Hats most definitely deform ears though, especially some of the lowbie tank gear (shrinks ear size by at least a factor of 1/2, I don't even).

Maybe, just maybe, the weaver cut holes in the hats to make ears go through?

Imagine having your ears squashed, not only will you not be able to hear a thing, but it will also hurt, since you wear your hat for months and months and months without taking it off

Have you SEEN the helmet from the DQX cross over? I look like a bunny instead of a cat. I actually cringed in pain. Those little diffreinces, not a big deal but this... owww

As OP suggested, I prefer went the ears stick out... not when they are hidden beneath a cloth or piece of armor. However, that would require a complete rework of MOST pieces of gear... not just for miqo'te, but for other races as well. Now that you've pointed out the lack of consistency with your ears jetting out, I won't be able to unsee it.

Most experienced haberdashers (dedicated hat makers) when dealing with a population of such varying ears would simply have a stock of blanks in several popular head sizes. The using complicated and almost mystical calculation would cut out ear holes before finishing the hat for the client. So there would be no painful ear squishing or plastic surgery needed to wear your new hat.

I support the message in this thread, and I will bump it. I'd also like the model for the Miqo'te version of Snow's hairstyle redone. The position of the ears on it indicates they are quite a few inches above where the actual skull ends.
