Honestly, they can make it work with the 50% option. While I disagree that is has to go all together, the 50% vote needed is BS. Should be at least a 75% or so majority. Basically two people can go together into a dungeon with the intent of kicking everyone just before the last boss and there's nothing that can be done about it.
Just make it so ONLY the people that voted to abandon the duty will leave it. Everyone who voted no should stay in the instance. That way they can choose for themselves whether they want to wait for reinforcements (which are probably coming in CT) or bail (with no penalty since the group is full).
If half the party doesn't want to be there, then half the party should be allowed to leave. Its either this, or they remove the deserter debuff so they can leave and you can stay. I have a feeling you'd complain either way.
If you dont like people's behavior, and want to control it, then form a party finder group or a premade of friends/LSmates/FCmates. Then you have complete control and people will play the way you want, stay for as many wipes as you want, or however else you want to hold the party hostage.

if they removed the deserter debuff then we'd be back at square one with tanks joining then leaving when it's not where they want it to be.
It is abuse actually. I have seen this setup before in CT, and all you have to do is ask the alliance to trade a few ranged for a few melee. Cant tell me that the entire alliance was melee heavy, cause I have never seen that. Plus, in this case, the other 16 people are screwed as well, cause an entire group left.
Why cant they make it so if you click abandon you get booted if you don't you stay in the instance and wait for more party members... Wait that would be logical, cause some of us don't mind waiting 5 minutes rather than running something for 45 minutes all over again...

Wrong, it would take 3 people. The person who initiates it does not get to vote. So in a 4 man party it takes 3/4 or 75% (which is what you wanted) to end the run. In an 8 party it takes 5, 1 to initiate and four to vote yes. Full parties are 5/8, granted not quite 75%, but the majority either way. While I disagree that is has to go all together, the 50% vote needed is BS. Should be at least a 75% or so majority. From the patch notes for conformation to what I'm saying.
Near the bottom under "System" - http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...ba39b67875a7af
"The Vote Abandon function has been added, making it possible to abandon a duty without penalty if the following conditions are met:
Light Party
Two players (not including the initiating player) must vote Yes to disband and end the duty.
Full Party
4 players (not including the initiating player) must vote Yes to disband and end the duty.
1. While in a duty, open the Duty Finder interface under Duty on the main menu, then select Vote Abandon.
2. All party members will be presented with a window to vote. If the majority votes Yes within 30 seconds, the duty will be abandoned."
It seems you are not speaking of vote to abandon, so idk. Not familiar with how vote to kick works sorry.

I voted no in my party of 4 and healer still got booted. What's going on with that?Wrong, it would take 3 people. The person who initiates it does not get to vote. yes , but the underlying issue is that there is no tools to stop trolls .
For example if I group with some people I cant friend them or blacklist them . There is almost no point even talking to people or trying to be friends with them in a DF because you never see them again .
