It's possible. I thought there was a vendor somewhere to purchase these items. Never knew it was just the achievement guy in Grid. I was trying to find the vendor to see what I could 'buy' with all mine.
You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....
edit: You can literally do the same thing as a parser with your eyes, a pencil & pad, and free time; I mean that is assuming your brain functions properly and can handle simple addition or work out basic equations.
Clever people just write a program that does it for them.
Enterprising people write a program that does it for them; and then they share it with the community as a helpful tool.
Stupid people use it to berate other player's poor performance, and get reported to GMs for flaunting it as a superiority.
Ignorant people squabble about it on the forums.

Yep, if/when we hear from SE I will update that thread as well.
this is still going on.
well they can change there terms at anytime and not have to tell anyone. who cares what they said before they could of changed a minute ago.
Thanks for phrasing so kindlyI have an honest question, (and sorry it’s not directed towards you specifically, more so the info you linked to.) since I do know about programming but I’m not going to claim to be an expert:
I see a lot of people using the info above and that quote from the Dev to say that SE said parsers are approved in game with this information. But that quote was specifically towards the player asking if tunneling software was ok. Now from what I understand:
Tunneling software/VPN: has to do with incompatible or insecure networks and either stabilizing or creating a safe and/or secure path.
Parser: takes (or reads) damage data that players are doing in the game and puts it into an easy to read format to see who is doing damage.
Now if I am understanding it correctly, a tunneling software wouldn’t do anything to the game, it has to do with securing or working with the connection. Where parser, in a way, is taking info from the game (be it data mining it out or reading it) to show that info in another way.
So to me it doesn’t seem that the two are in anyway alike or related. So if the Dev said the tunneling software, which doesn’t even touch the game in any way, would be ok to use at his own risk; it can’t really be used to defend a parser which does read and/or pull data from the game so is working with the game in some way.
If this is correct, then it seems to me people are using that quote in an inappropriate context or misleading way to try and validate a point
Or am I missing something?. Yes, that's why despite confirmation on those third party tunneling programs not violating the TOS, I'm hoping that SE will address the current issue that has come up with parsers, since it seems that they haven't said anything about them specifically.
Gah, the character limit is killing me. Next post.

(continued) I think it may be up for debate whether tunneling software "touches" the game more than a parser, because it does redirect all the game packets onto a path that they would not normally take if not for the software. If the argument is then that it does not edit the game, a log parser does not either. It opens up your log, looks at the information, and analyzes it without changing what was previously recorded. Hypothetically, you could cut-paste your entire in-game battle chat tab onto a notepad file, print it up, and tally up the damage by hand without utilizing a computer at all. The parser is doing just that, only much, much faster.
(Caveat: I do not use FFXIV-App, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
Holy crap people.
Harassment this malicious that, griefing, report, cry cry cry.
It is just a data logging tool.
When did we start having to handle everybody with bubble wrap and mittens?
-Harassment-
The act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands.
Not harassment: Hey Bob, your dps sucks.

Anyone see the difference?
it's funny that se says they are not a violation, but almost every other mmo, including wow, says vpn's are against their tos. wow is very straight forward about any use of vpn's changes the route from your isp to the server bypassing hops and gives players an unfair advantage so they are illegal. Thanks for phrasing so kindly.
