Right. It's about being tactful. You can tell someone they're not up to snuff without just destroying their feelings or making them seem like a worthless player. The party should talk it out and come to a decision (this includes the person you're asking to leave). Few things are as baffling as party leaders who don't even have the balls to let the person know that they're being removed.

I know this might be a new concept to you, seeing as you have already demonstrated with that single post the depths of your good nature, but what makes someone an elitist prick is not the wish to have a party of a specific gear requirement or minimum DPS. What makes someone an elitist prick is, most notably, being a prick. You can kick a DPS for whatever reason you like and still show respect. Not that I would ever assume you'd be capable of being disrespectful to anyone you removed from a party of yours, because your post gave no indication of such.

Huge LOL here. I didn't really mind parsers as they are great tools for self improvement... but after seeing this post, I hope to god SE makes an official confirmation that parsers are illegal. We don't need this kind of toxic attitude, especially in an casual-focus MMO like FFXIV.

Also I use FFXIV-APP. It hasn't always worked right, but I love it because of that daily update. LOOK AT THAT HARD WORK!!!! LOOOK AT IT!

It's not what was said, but how it was said. People have every right to set the standards of their own groups...however, what this community needs more of are people willing to teach and give advice to players to help make them better, and bringing them into a friendly atmosphere once they start participating in end-game content. Not people who feel the need to kick someone just because they made a tiny mistake (one-and-done).

If banning parsers gets rid of at least SOME of the "OMG Y U CANT MAD DEEPS BRO? U FAIL NUB, GTFO" crowd, I'm all for it. Not saying said poster is of this crowd, but from my extensive experience in MMOs, this is usually this crowd setting outrageous standards for content...sometimes to cover for their own faults.

I had also thought that there was dev confirmation that FFXIV was planning on supporting third party addons in the future, and I'd love to hear an official response from SE in regards to parsing apps and whether or not they are in violation of the ToS >.<. Fingers crossed that there'll be a dev response here, or that maybe they'll reply to this Gamerescape post: Confusion Regarding Parsers and Third Party Applications For FFXIV Players.

I think you took his post the wrong way. He said he parses for his group, that he's not going to carry another player, that he does not want to be carried by other players, that he will use his parser's info to identify problems and will attempt to fix it (and if he can't, he needs more experience himself), and if players that were parsed have a problem, they can deal with it.

He did not talk down or insult anyone, you and a few other posters in this thread just choose to jump on him.

I use to be a hardcore raider for many game and ive found that since ive stopped caring about my dps and others dps ive enjoyed those games a hell of a lot more. Theres a reason the hardcore crowd has such a bad reputation, its because most of them are rude obnoxious people. I use to be one.
