Housing is "6" months after FC housing...that might be where u are getting 6 from..major updates is every 2-3 months. 2.1 was actually 1 month late.

Content patches are supposed to be every 3 months. 2.1 was an exception because they had to spend a month expanding Data centers. We were supposed
to actually get it in November. Yoshi specifically said they will be back into the 3 month rotation after 2.1 (about March/April for 2.2)

2.1 was an exception in being so long from launch (4 months), and that was largely because of the issues at launch. Everyone was granted a free month from launch (not counting CE free month) to compensate.

They have also said that the 2nd major patch would be vanity patch, and projected as 6 months from launch.

The exception with 2.1 was that it came later than planned because the rocky launch. 2.2 should come faster.
2-3 months between main updates is their plan.
