Im not saying parsers are bad far from it but I would wait until SE brings out an official development kit or the like for making these apps (if they ever do). like most things SE wants to keep some sort of control over the 3rd party apps scene.

Well, we all seem to recall someone from SE in a position to communicate about this specifically mentioning that it was OK when asked about, acting within his capacity as either a mod or the lead producer of the game.

There are autistic savants that can read the logs and tell us, faster than a parser, who did the most dmg. We could all do it if we wanted to by literally viewing the logs and calculating it ourselves.

We have hundreds and hundreds of threads talking about BiS, establishing the values of determination vs crit vs skill/spell speed etc. That is all pretty much based on manual parsing/observations.

Or like i said earlier, people talking about using app directly on the forums and no GMs or mods warning them that it is against ToS.

if you delve into the numbers on that side of things most people talk about monitoring their own characters and calculating from chat logs etc. refer to my previous post about why its different.

but anyways bottom line is third party software whatever it is, is not allowed as far as the TOS goes so keep it quiet.

It's probably one of those things that comes with conditions, and people started to press their luck.

Parsers can be helpful, but can also lead to malicious attitudes. I taught myself a long time ago how to judge player output just by watching the fight (this takes an incredible amount of skill, but very doable), so I don't have to worry about these gray-area rules.

I got reported for using 3rd party tools by a butt-hurt MNK in a DF Ultima who didn't like the fact that I mentioned his DPS was awful because I did 70DPS more than him while having ballad up (-20% DPS) nearly the entire fight. The GM just pulled chat from my FC following the interaction in DF Ultima.

Not just that, but on these very forums I am fairly certain a Mod responded that FFXIV-App was not against Tos.

Only thing I've seen mods say that wasn't against ToS was using VPN software as it doesn't really interact with FFXIV at all.

I read the OP and saw the screen shot prior to it being removed. The GM in question made no mention of the player being reported or anything at all behavior related. The GM said FFXIV-APP was a, "HUGE violation of the ToS". While SE isn't providing consistent information on this topic I would think its smart to just not talk about parsers in-game or anywhere other than voice coms until there is some clarity.

Only thing I've seen mods say that wasn't against ToS was using VPN software as it doesn't really interact with FFXIV at all.

They've also given ENB Injector their blessing. Their replies in both cases sort of make it sound like parsers might be OK, but I can't recall them ever talking specifically about parsers at all, either.
