IN this case it wasnt the fact you were using a parser it was the fact that you were using it to monitor other players which is not allowed.

Tbh i can totally agree with the GMs decision while you may or may not of intentionally meant to upset the player fact is you should keep things like comparing parser results to voice chat and close game friends.

I thought that I also read somewhere that this was allowed. It's possible I misinterpreted what had been previously said, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were being contradictory. I will say it bugs me to no end that the mechanics for turn two of Binding coil were thrown out the window with the enrage strategy, and while fair game to use that strategy, as a Dev I would be sad that the mechanics I worked on are now useless. Apparently though, parsing information the game gives to you in the seldom read "battle log" is just a step too far.

Yes you will bring up that people use the parser to be a jerk. But that person is going to be a jerk parser or no. The parser has the potential though to help those wishing to do better dps, or overheal less, etc. Actually accomplish their goals. Frankly I think it's something that should have been added at the start.

This needs more clarification. The enmity meter is the same thing, and everyone can see that. The only difference is representing the information more accurately and in numbers, rather than in a gauge bar.

Royze thats the point of the vague gauge bar so you don't have numbers to compare.

Im not saying parsers are bad far from it but I would wait until SE brings out an official development kit or the like for making these apps (if they ever do). like most things SE wants to keep some sort of control over the 3rd party apps scene.

I think you will find that technically parsers are against the TOS but at the same time they aren't.

if you use a parser for yourself noone knows you are using it and it doesnt effect the game or others in it.
However, if you use it to affect another players gaming experience the parser is effecting the game and therefore falls under the use of third party apps.

There is no way of checking if someones using a parser as they only read a log file thats saved on your local machine and do some basic maths on it. Therefore, as far as i recall yoshi said he was fine with people using a parser because ultimately there is no way to stop people from doing so. my advice would be to keep parser related chat to close friends and within voice chat.

There's no way SE can detect if you're using FFXIV-APP or third party plugins because none of these programs alter the game's memory.

Basically, what the GM is saying is: Don't encourage the use of these programs in-game.
