People sacrifice good gear for "fashion"

Something I don't really understand is the growing desire people have to looks "fashionable" rather than have better gear. It's pretty shocking how many people just tell me "I'm wearing this because it looks better" even though they are well aware of gear being better for them that doesn't look so stellar >.<. Stuff like this can really make a party suffer and it's quite selfish so I ask why? Why is this allowed? Anyone else relate?

The only way it would piss me off is if the gear was like 30 levels behind their level. Otherwise, meh, this game is a cakewalk anyway.

Not being allowed to wear your favourite equipment? That's THE Restriction!

Honestly I don't care, but what I could say is that Everyone has the right to dress how they like to. If they are having complications in a party... sucks to be them =)

yeah but it can cause everyone to suffer specially if tank is doing it and besides it removes anything special about wearing higher rank gear. Any lowbie could wear r50 gear.

if your party is suffering on anything, maybe you should reconsider your playstyle rather than what one person is wearing. I triod Dodore (Con) with a THM and Pug once. Aside from our weapons and undergarments , the THM and I were completely naked.

    tl;dr L2P

sounds like a bigger problem arises from your counterargument: gear has relatively no effect based on that.

Yeah, but you agree with me that it's the player's fault for equipping over-ranked/non-favored/worse gear making a hole in the party, screwing it up, rite?

Anyway, yes, a rank requirement for the equipment could halfly solve the problem.

In most situations, aside from defensive stats and HP/MP, gear IS useless. My damage output and resist rate did not change when I changed from Harlequin's acton + Velveteen hat to Vintage robe + Harlequin's cap and visa versa. The stat scaling is just so broken that you would need +100 in the stat to get maybe 20 extra damage. You're better off gearing HP/MP + defensive stats and don't worry about the attributes that's on the gear.

Also, this game is extremely easy. As my counterargument intended to say, if you're having trouble, get better. Gear has no major effect on your performance.
