New in FFXIV and MMORPG agro question

Hi everyone!!....As i said, i'm new to FFXIV and MMORPG in general, well ...i have a GLD lvl 30 an ilevel about 20, that's the plot: "i have done ifrit battle (normal mode) for first time, and i know what to do, but....at the begining of the fight i use Shield lob and run to put ifrit away to the party, i follow with FB and SB ...keep going...but at some time i see that the DPS gets more agro than me....keep ifrit going after him, and he run around, is some annoying that, because i have to go towards him and try to get back agro ...well, i got it....keep the agro...but then...again it repeats the same...anyway...we can finish the level....but....i start to think...what's was worng?....i tried to do what i suppose to do....but somehow i have missing something....any suggestion maybe....i don't know...but that's my main question: "there's a way that i can do more agro than others...or at least keeping more than others?"...any sugestion will be more than appreciate...thanks!!

Pre-pop Fight or Flight before doing Shield Lob, then pop it again whenever it's up.

Your ability to produce enmity is based on your rotation, which is fine, and your damage. Your damage could be a factor depending on how good your equipment is. Your fellow DPS is also a factor. For example, if your DPS was synched during your Trial, that DPS could be well over your lvl and much, much better geared than you. Though synched, DPS can still dish out a lot of damage.

What he means by "pre-pop" means to use Fight or Flight before you initiate your fight with Shield Lob. Will make Shield Lob hit harder, thus increasing enmity. Basically, whenever Flight or Flight is off cooldown, use it.

Fight or Flight is a buff you have as a GLD. Are you using Rage of Halone after savage blade? That's where you're going to get most of your threat generation.

At Gladiator level 30 you can become a Paladin and the stats will get better, so you will get better aggro. The weapon and the gear you have also affect a lot. Try to have the best weapon and gear available, and you will create more enmity. The DPS that see you lose aggro should also wait for you to gain aggro before starting to attack, but if you are very undergeared you may have problems anyway. Go to the market board and buy high quality gear if it is available and not too expensive, and repeat dungeons to obtain drops and gear up if you need to.

Ifrit story mode means level synced so no Rage of Halone.

Tank enmity pre-30 is gimped compared to damage dealers. Especially those who like to unload (who often also have cross class damage boost skills). As ARC I have consistently rode on the enmity of all tanks on the first mob of every pull all through the Lv.15-20 dungeons whenever I want.

Lastly, just a reminder to the op: use comboed salvage blade for best enmity output at that level, don't spam riot blade.
