Good lord that is depressing.
I lol'd, it's so true. What's wrong with our society
Haha, so true. The best (or worst) example of this would have to be another squar enix rpg: nier.
In the japanese ver. You play you typical bishounen teenage boy, while the western version had you play a gruff older man. Everything else is the same though.
Main box everything came in.
Actual game case.
These were my NA boxes so yeah :3
I was very happy with these.

American box art for video games in general are usually altered to be more aggressive and manly, hence Gaius with his sword drawn like that. It's how the industry works.
Japan loves anime and NA loves realistic looking people. Its just how it is. I myself love the JP cover.
Same here. And being an average NA consumer, I'm not in the "average" category since a closeup of a villain hardly draws my attention as much as the random player characters grouped up ready to take action. That NA picture just looks boring to me, no offense. If it included shots from each citystate like the new wallpapers have, then it may have been more interesting. Then again there also might be some gamers in Japan who like the villian close-up. It's impossible to please everybody, perhaps they should have just made all box arts available in every region, made it random or something. /shrug
The original art wasn't bad either, that Hyur is still kinda hawt =3
