Why MMO gamers are the hardest to please...

Seriously, is it really "just a game"? We live in an age where you pay $60 for a 10-100 hour game. Has anyone here not had at least 10 -100 hours of fun?

MMO players invest so much time into the game, they begin to think they actually own some of what they're playing. It may take 1 year, it may take 7 years. But sooner or later it becomes apparent that they owned absolutely nothing when the game finally closes down and are denied playing alltogther.

But then they start another MMO and it doesn't sink in, they keep trying to spend their money playing the best game ever instead of just enjoying the service they're paying for.


It's all about time. MMOs are made to take it from you, and it pisses people off to no end when it suddenly isn't sinking their time in the same way they want it to. So they jump on a forum board and bitch about what needs to be changed.

You see more whine posts then constructive posts because it's not the customers job to improve the buyers product/business for them. Customers give feedback on what they did or in most cases didn't like about the product and the business owner can use this information as they see fit.

They should really reduce some of the timers between activities. Only 1 minute for a reliever to warm up instead of two; faster queue time between batters; faster play resumption after foul balls... and they should finish fixin jump!

It's definitely unbalance. Gotta get it as balanced as football.

Actually, I was going for humorous shot of perspective. I see a lot of complaining on here like FFXIV was South Park's end of the world... of warcraft. I see people writing rage quit posts and all sorts of things that imply FFXIV is more than a game. I'm just wondering why people are so emotional. You paid $60 it came with the first month.. you played a heck of a lot longer than you did, half the games on xone, ps4 and it's predecessors... Why so much complaining. Room for improvement? Always, but less whine more constructive. That's what.

People can become emotionally attached to any game, not just MMORPGs.

What makes us different is that MMORPGs constantly update with new content. MMOs are larger games so there's a lot more to talk about. There's usually a storyline that updates frequently so role-players and loremaniacs pick it apart for the sake of knowledge; Game elements are added and tweaked; Competitive play is tweaked and balanced constantly, pissing off anyone who plays a class that gets debuffed as a result of simply appeasing the status quo; The raiding community's unrest intensifies when they inevitably run out of things to do, foaming at the mouth over the gear treadmill put in place to prevent them from complaining all the time, which doesn't work since they do so regardless.

But in the end, forumgoers are an angry minority. The majority of people who don't complain simply don't go on the forums. They play the game and live their lives. The community at large shouldn't be judged by those who yell the loudest. It's the same as believing that the loud prejudiced rants of hard-right Republicans reflect the collective opinion of the entire country. It doesn't. They just yell a lot. People who go on MMO forums do the same.

People complain about anything, needing little basis beyond "this isn't what I want." Not sure why we needed a label on it to rebrand it as an MMO-exclusive phenomenon.
