SE's quick response to harrassing players

Last night we had a BLM that was verbally abusive right from the moment we started Qarn. Our healer, who was a 50 BLM among other jobs is a great WHM as well. Being such he is very comfortable DPSing and casting sleep on extra mobs. This pissed the black mage off instantly and so began the namecalling, the insults, and typical attitude of someone craving attention. I warned the the BLM that we would replace him if he didn't change his attitude and still he kept on. We didn't make it through maybe 2 rooms before we finally vote-kicked him for harassment. I filed a report on the player and within moments I had a response from a GM and he informed me they were already looking into his actions. I just want to say that [GM Aesthphron] was very friendly and made a frustrating situation better for us. There are too many people that hide behind the anonymity of their avatars and we shouldn't have to put up with it. Thank you SE for handling the situation so quickly.

While I agree that being pissy during a DG is unwanted behavior, so is using gameplay tactics that slow down the team. Which is why I'm guessing the BLM was understandably upset. Seeing as BLM's are built for AoE, to render him into a solo DPSer just so the WHM can throw some solo DPS as well is far from optimal. Playstyles are different for everyone but when you impose a very weak strategy I can understand why other people will get upset.

I can confirm, I have been banned multiple times now, they don't tolerate harassment or anything that could be considered offensive, no gay jokes, no racist jokes, no nothing. And they act fast. brb warped into a jail 30 mins after arguement.

Uhh, It's noticeably faster to have 4 Players focus down 1 target at a time, than to have a lone Black Mage try to AoE everything down. Makes the entire run smoother on the Tank and Healer, can flow easily from one pack into the next since we aren't wasting incredible amounts of MP keeping the Tank alive, and TP keeping hate on 4 targets at once.


Highlighted the relevant part, His playstyle is to mindlessly AoE everything in sight and theirs was to Sleep everything around the main target and have 4 people nuke down a single mob. He should be adapting to way the Tank and Healer go through it, not the other way.
His abuse was unnecessary and idiotic.

PS: BLMs are not "Built for AoE". Spamming Fire II and Blizzard II is grand for dealing with low HP adds, but doesn't hold a candle to what a BLM puts out in single target. Same can be said for BRD AoEs, Monk AoEs and DRG AoEs.

^ This. BLM can dish out better damage on single target over AoE easily. While in some cases (i.e. WP speed runs) AoE does make things go faster, when engaging small groups, and not asked to, the only AoE that is decent is Sleep. If we were "built for AoE", then the only encounters we would be decent at would be trash.

Thats funny because ive never gotten a response from anyone after filing a complaint. Not just for harassment, but for items disappearing out of my bags also.

sony is cracking down on people like that too but there going above and beyond. they'll ban you from there games and that mean SOE account, PSN account & tell other companys that your being a prick so if you have the same name on your accounts or have account like facebook and things like that you can lose it too. think microsoft is just starting that kind punishment also.
