Tell you the truth i rather they look at there server data information and be honest about it, and not always listen to the 1% that comes to game forums. Yes some people can give good ideas, but some not the best. Get rid the pin hole on the stuff . That most like on the game.

Most of ARR's changes were because of the supposed "only 1% who visits the forums", just an FYI.

Not true. Virtually all the changes were to reverse the terrible reception of 1.0. Go back and look at reviews of it, it was an unmitigated disaster. The changes that happened before shut down were simply not enough, and were most likely started before the revamp was going to happen. Complain about it being a wow clone all you want, the numbers are all that matter. On the launch of ARR, the numbers were WAY more than they even hoped. So much that it put Square in the black, when it was in the red before. The changes were considered by players at large to be good, hence so many playing.

Oh please don't be absurd lol. The only reason FFXIV did so well is because at the time there was a huge influx of WoW players leaving WoW due to being bored. Don't believe me? Go look at WoW numbers right before ff re-release? FFXIV just happened to be in the right place in the right time considering there wasn't much else out there. People flocked to it like moth to a flame. But i will tell you... ask SE to publish their active numbers NOW and ill guarantee you'll see a different picture. And that will change drastically when ESO and Wildstar come out.

While ill say that the trip 1-50 with the story line was awesome, the rest has just become a complete utter grind (the highest with lockouts). And people are starting to wake up to that fact (aka the honeymoon effect is wearing off). The others and simply having fun because they are with friends.

Hey, im just sayin. I want this game to do good too, but lets not kid ourselves hmm?

Conjectures does not equate to being truthful... Just saying.

Final fantasy XIV ARR was released August 27, 2013 (24th for early birds). Fact.

WoW had roughly 10 mil subs during last years beginning. Well known fact.

Wow has been dropping exponentially since then. Also fact. http://www.maximumpc.com/world_warcr...n_players_2013

Considering many people look for an mmo after leaving another one (which is common knowledge and practice) it is safe to assume they saw arr, decided to come to this game and walla! The subs we had at launch.

Current game, considering the drop in people logging in (different for each guild), forum complaining, and how much more silent it is (less spam) at certain hubs, Its safe to assume through logic there's some fall in the subscription base. Personally I'd love to see SE release sub numbers just for the curious. But i doubt they would.

Mostly fact and some easy observation and a little bit of common sense (aka no rose colored glasses).

So as you can see my friend, its far from conjecture. Some fact and some easy observation and a little bit of common sense (aka no rose colored glasses).
I disagree with your conjecture. I honestly think that the majority of FFXIV's playerbase is composed of FF fans and that most people that left were the FF fans that prefer offline games / refuse to pay subscriptions.

While some players obviously came from WoW, I simply don't believe in your assertion that most of FFXIV's initial numbers stem from people leaving WoW.

I can further increase you basis of a conjecture by including the support that players were also leaving other games such as GW2 and SWTOR (both of which stole a decent amount of players from WoW) and that further helped the re-launch of this game.

What your describing is the typical observation of the flow of content locust that plagues MMO's these days. The issue I have with your conjecture is that this flow of players is not in fact FACT. There is no way to prove the number of players coming and leaving this game simply based of other games success (and losses). It's still a conjecture all the same.

Partly, yes. You also have to base yourself on the statistical BI you're collecting in order to ascertain what your whole gaming population is favoring in the game. Then you balance it with your own overall vision for the game as a designer. It's not just based on forum user feedback. Forum posters are just the most vocal of these weighed factors. ;-)
